Make Sure You Write This Down

Day 2,499, 19:06 Published in USA USA by Azazel Romanov

First off, time to kill speculation. Despite leaving it open ended in the last article, I have actually decided to put time into the game again. I thought I could put some effort back in as a part of the social contract in a way. You guys put me up as president, as an alliance commander, as a minister of foreign affairs, and yet I still feel like I haven't truly given back to the community that supported me.

We can all see its decline, not just in the forum activity, the decrease of IRC, or the slowly withering decline in active players. A most prominent sign of our fall from grace has to be the media module. Articles are posted up simply to draw comments rather than entertain or enlighten. Prominent people, including myself, simply post photos rather than content. We still see a few great articles here and there, but many focus on the outside rather than internal affairs. Even party media, once a staple of the news, is starting to fall by the wayside. Congress articles used to dominate this time of the month, and we have seen maybe one or two interested individuals write about what they might want to see.

Many of you may not remember my roots in the eUSA. I was a writer. I love writing, I love informing, and I love giving my opinion. I started out independent, then moved on to writing for the government as Media Secretary, and eventually saw myself writing as President of the United States. My first real campaign as John Killah's VP pick was focused on being able to write and inspire discussion. To see media fall so far hits me personally. It hurts my connection to this game and it hurts the country as a whole. So what are we to do?

I'm going to draw the line here.

I will be starting up a Writing College.

I know these sorts of things have been attempted before. Inspiring media presence is difficult, and even contests or admin missions have been failing to coerce or convince people that writing is worth it. I want to change that.

Starting today, I will be offering my help to those who want to improve the media by being a part of it. If you simply need to know basics, I'm willing to be an editor. If you want to learn structure and appeal, I'm willing to give you some pointers on structure and appearance. If you simply need ideas, I'm willing to be your creative guidance. If you simply need an outlet, I will get you involved and connected with those who could use your services.

I am asking those who are interested to contact me and ask me anything they would like to know about a career in eRep Journalism. I am asking those who are great writers or those willing to commit some energy back into the game to contact me and get involved with this project.

I know this has been done before. I know this hasn't worked as well as many hoped before. But we're getting to the point where we either work to fix things or let it all die. I'd rather charge into the breach one last time then resign to the slow demise we have been seeing. Let's be the change we want to see.

Current Opportunities To Write

Please read the latest White House Press Room article. Towards the bottom you will see that there is currently a writing contest. For any of those interested and want some help, please don't hesitate to contact me. I would be glad to help.

To give some quick credit, this project originates from, and is sponsored and endorsed by the United States Workers Party. But that doesn't mean it has to end with us. I encourage anyone interested to get involved. I encourage all parties to join in or start up similar efforts.
