Let's Shake It Up!!!

Day 2,569, 11:55 Published in USA USA by catsch73

I must admit to being a mere babe in the woods here (maybe a month and a half), but I've been reading voraciously any and all papers that I can get my hands on. I've found the attitude to be slightly discouraging in most of what I've read. End of the world talk that would have scared me off if not for the encouragement of a friend. I understand that this is not the game that it once was, but instead of lamenting the loss how about doing something tangible to change it.

I read an article by someone by the name of Aramec. I'm sure everyone knows him here but he's a stranger to me. Anyway, he posed the question there that I've been asking myself (yes I do talk to myself but it's only because I know I'll listen and most probably agree). Why is there only one Presidential candidate? If no one else is going to run, why don't we simply call it what it is, appointing a President. And...who gets to do the appointing? And (lots of ands)who appointed them to do the appointing?

I'm aware that I don't know the ins and outs of the game but this seems to leave a lot of people out of the equation, thereby creating a sort of apathy that discourages citizens from voting. Why bother if there is no choice.

Imagine my surprise and joy to find that Rainy Sunday had thrown her hat into the ring. Congratulations lady for taking a chance and going BIG (no jokes folks). You have taken elections back for the rest of us and I for one am overjoyed. This is not to say that I have chosen who I will finally vote for, but now I have a choice. I have a reason to read about both of the candidates and make an informed decision. Thank you Rainy Sunday for giving me that opportunity.

If this game is to continue we must all find ways, within the current construct, to have fun, to create community, to do what it takes to make this eWorld a place that new players want to be part of and seasoned players want to continue to inhabit. Let's stir the pot and see what floats to the surface.

Now get out there and VOTE on Friday!
