Late Opinions

Hello eCanada,
As you know our CP election was one of the closest political races that eCanada has experienced.
But.
I do have a problem. As I understand it, when you run for CP your in it to win it. You push. On. Though. The fact that both Punisher and Lelouch (which were not THAT far behind) threw in the towel and threw their remaining chance at DMV to win it. I would find it dishonourable to give up when the elections were not even over. If your favourite sports team gave up when the opposing team was in the lead, wouldn't you question their respect? If the Canucks gave up when Luongo gives up some scramble at the net then we wouldn't even have made it to the playoffs.
I know that this is politics, lot's of people do these types of things in both RL and eRep. But it's sad to see two people give up when they haven't even finished something they have started.
tl;dr
Finish your what you've damn started.
That's just a nubs opinion,
I'm Hazmat and your welcome.
Also
I'm having a sexy contest 😃
Put a link to the photo of a woman you think is sexy, your sub and vote number and i'll send you 10 q4 food cause I'm a nub and i'm poor.

Shifting support in the middle of an election seems okay to me so long as it is agreed upon by the party members/party president. Seems to me that this was not made clear beforehand, so many people were annoyed by candidates shifting support/votes to DMV3.
A failure to communicate, it seems.
My preference would be for my party to allow the candidate or party president to shift support. You don't know how the election will unfold so it makes sense to use some strategy to get in the most preferable candidate. I'd settle for boosting my second choice by sacrificing my first choice. A second best leader is a better result than my least preferred candidate.
Of course, I don't think parties have any official stances on these things and just play it by ear each election. At least, I've never seen anything stated about how each party conducts itself in an election...so of course there's bound to be misunderstandings.
It's just discomforting seeing someone give up even IF it is agreed uopn
yeah, if you think of it as 'giving up' then it does look bad.
Elections are often described as races. It would be in bad form for an athlete to give up part-way through a race if he doesn't appear to be winning. It would look even worse if he quit and then gave the 2nd place guy a push to get him going faster to beat the race's frontrunner.
Elections are not actually races, though. I'm not sure what better describes it so I'll just say why it is not a real 'race.'
The racers shouldn't be trying to win the election just for themselves or just for their party, but do it for the whole country (lol, like that always happens). And they are not running to the finish in a straight line either. Behind the scenes negotiations are not part of races but they do seem to be part of elections here.
Giving up, pouting, and spoiling the election because you didn't win is bad form, of course. Dropping out in order to take your next best option once you tried for your best option first...seems like a smart move if people supporting you agree to the decision.
It was actually my understanding that party leadership endorsed Lelouch's move, I think you're right on the mark here Wilfie.
Funny that none of the MDP said this when Dozzer gave up and endorse Shoi to try and prevent Oinyo from winning the June elections.
Circumstances then and now are very different, at least for me, but it's funny to see this play out and how the sides have turned.
you guys tried to block Oinyo!
I think I now have to hate MDP and CPF forever and ever. (or at least until the next election when CW needs your support, lol)
I didn't support it, I was PP at the time, though it was similar to the current situation we find ourselves in.

Lots of similarities, but also differences. I believed when it happened in June, it was wrong because I believed all three to be highly qualified. This election I think it was clear where I stood in regards to IBB.
Oinyo was still a bad CP so it would have been better to have Shoi or Dozzer.
lol, Auk Rest hates me now! I'm so special.
I'm still not sure why Auk dislikes what I did now, but supports DMV for making the exact same move.
Funny how things work out 😁
whoa whoa whoa I didn't do anything ._.
I HATE POLITICKS
//fliptable
Happens all the time Hazmat, it's politics.
I understand that, I said that in the article 😃
It's not uncommon what happened, at the end of the day we have a CP and a community to rebuild, the last thing we should be doing is criticising the past. Isn't the MDP saying 'ever forward'?
"the last thing we should be doing is criticising the past"
Spoken like a true victor.
Memories and the ability to evaluate the good ones from the bad ones still have a place in my community. Sour grapes and high hopes are both welcome.
