In the Senate - the Australian National Party - A firm hand in our hour of need

Day 819, 21:52 Published in Australia Australia by venja

To all my constituents in WA and to anyone else who is interested - I am providing a bit of an update on what the Senate has been doing so far this term.

Where are the government updates ???

Unfortunately the government own Department of Public Relations has not had a single press release issued since the Cabinet reshuffle 17 days ago. Normally these news articles allow the citizens of eAustralia to find out what the government is doing and to get a feel for what the issues are etc. The current Cottus Arci government seems to have thrown this process out the window.

The work of the Senate

Anyway amongst the work of the Senate this term there have been numerous amendments put through to the various protocols controlling both the PM and the Senate.

The Defence Department is facing an overhaul but new legislation to enable many of the changes has been rejected by the Senate once already and is currently being voted a second time round. The main resistance to the new ideas is the reluctance of PM Cottus to negotiate some of the more contentious points. Any way we shall see how the second round of voting pans out.

I myself proposed a series of amendments to the budget process to make the government more accountable for the taxpayer dollars they are spending. As you maybe aware, the 2 government terms prior to PM Cottus both failed to implmenet any sort of budget. In Cottus' January term, there was a budget but it was criticised for excessive spending and the significant deficit that was partly funded by currency printing.

Now that we are nearly half way into Cottus' February (second) term, the Senate is wondering why no budget has been produced. Note that under legislation, the PM and his cabinet are required to have a budget to Senate for discussion, amendment and approval so that funds can be distributed from the 12 th day of the month (4 days ago). Now the PM is facing investigation by the Inspector General for a possible breach of the Act and, separately, a possible impeachment over the whole budget affair.

As part of the reviewing of our governments poor financial management, ANP senators have investigated the PP housing scheme which is a private company building houses and which was estimated to have receievd a direct subsidy of 340 gold from the government in January. ANP arranged for this scheme to be shutdown and this is a major saving for the government.

ANP has also been instrumental in winding up the Citadel Systems assistance scheme which was building defense systems for government using a very open ended contract with government. This contract was not awarded under the government's Tender Act and was a poor commercial decision for government to get involved in.

Two government companies that were poorly run and of no real benefit to government has been sold off, saving government operating costs going forward.

What will the ANP do to help

ANP senators will continue to work hard to reduce government waste. We are aiming to eliminate the government's deficit so that stop digging into our stockpiles- which ANP would rather keep for when we need to fight a major war.

New senate elections are coming on the 25th. I will be putting myself forward for re-election in WA. When you come to vote, please consider what the candidates before you have been doing. Some senators are a lot more active than others.

If you are interested in getting in involved in politics, check out the ANP News You may notice that many other parties advertise more than ANP. You may also notice that we do great work to keep the country running as best we can.

If you believe in freedom and a healthy eAustralia then you deserve the best party, the oldest party and the biggest part in Australia - ANP. If you want to know more, please pm me at any time.

Are you thinking what were thinking ?
