Day 3,000, 15:13 Published in Norway Denmark by Joshua Morriseau

Ba Ba Bahh! Alright my Sheep gather around, class is in session again! For those of you wondering what the heck Im talking about I don't blame you! Im reviving a series of mine that only ever featured one article from Day 2,145. I wanted to do a series discussing some of the important events & people in eRepublik history. Thanks to Yanisin for pushing me to do this as a celebration of reaching it to Day 3,000.

Hungary-Czech Republic War
June 6th 2008-June 23rd 2008

Battles Fought: 60 (Hungary 0 vs Czech Republic and allies 60)
Fights Won: Hungary 922 vs Czech Republic 280, Poland 0, USA 612, Bulgaria 32
Draw Fights: 330
Total Fights: 2176

You might find it odd today that the Czech Republic was once strong enough to repel Hungary but that once was very true. This war started over a dispute over Slovakian succession. Hungary claimed ownership over the area by historical issues, whilst the Czech Republic claimed Slovakia due to previous conquest. The Czechs held out the first couple days, but were soon pushed out of Slovakia and were forced to defend the Czech Republic itself. Part way through the war, Nave Saikiliah helped the Czechs, leading to Czech troops retaking parts of Slovakia and marching through Budapest (Inadvertently leading to MA forces intervening to save their ally). The war ended with Hungary annexing Slovakia, but the Czechs remaining independent. At the time it was known to be the longest war in eRepublik History.

During the war the President of the Czech Republic Yugi attempted to make a deal with the Hungarian leaders by refusing to accept practically all of the peace proposals sent from Hungary. This lead to many congressmen and citizens to try and remove Yugi from power. Unfortunately no Constitution had been ratified official at this point and all efforts were mostly ignored. This war later led to Vaclav, and later Ivan Hat, taking control of the Czech Republic, being some of the primary leaders against Hungary and the current Administration when the president attempted to sabotage the Czechs.

Polish Independence War
For many of us, it might be unthinkable that Sweden would be a nation that could grant Poland its independence, but on Day 299 that is exactly what happened. Poland lost its country in June of 2008 to Germany in the Germany-Poland War. The war takes an even more interesting twist when Sweden declares war on Germany in what is now known as the Second Sweden-Germany War. The results were catastrophic for Germany and resulted in the entire nation being wiped and therefore all of its Polish possessions being taken by Sweden. The process for Polish independence from Sweden began September 14th 2008. The treaty was signed by Swedish President Flammbar and Polish President Popolo. In the original treaty for independence there were 7 points, some of those being...

-Sweden declares to grant independence to Poland as soon as the Fight For Freedom module is launched and the Polish nation accepts this gift with profound gratitude.

-Sweden and the recovered Poland shall have a Mutual Protection Pact and a Trade Agreement of 0% import tax.

-This treaty cannot be rescinded. The penalty for breaking this contract is 500 gold.

The Norwegian Empire

After the first few months in eRepublik (known as Norway's Dark Ages) Norway became one of the fastest growing nations in eRepublik and spread their dominance quickly and fiercely. Having a population second only to Sweden also helped improve their military capabilities. By March of 2008 eRepublik had over 10,000 members, Norway boasting 1110 of those and having the 3rd largest economy in the New World. Day 150 the first shots were fired between Norway and Finland.

“ Finland har ikke gjort oss noe galt, de står bare i veien for vår ferd utover i verden. De bør betegnes med respekt, f. eks som forbundsfelle. "Vår forbundsfelle Finland."

(Translation: Finland has not done something wrong, they are just in the way of our journey throughout the world. They should be referred to with respect, for example, that ally. "Our ally Finland.") ”
(Anders)

Within four days Norway completely conquers Finland ending the Norway-Finland War. Not even a full month later war breaks out between Norway and Russia which becomes known as the Norway-Russia War or as it was known in Russian media as their 'Great Patriotic War.' This was all going on during the same time Sweden was invading Germany and Poland. Both wars were justified by Norway and Sweden with the same cause, by Indonesia about to sign MPPs with Russia and Germany creating a claustrophobic feeling in Scandinavia.

It only took Norway 5 days to conquer Russia, the geographically largest nation at the time and solidifying Norway as the dominant world power at the time. Norway began discussing the possibility of invading further into Ukraine and Poland however this was rejected for the fears of provoking a war with the Southern Asian powers by further territorial gains. In August of 2008 Norway was a founding member of ATLANTIS. Norway's population continues to rise to 2,470 as World War 1 begins.

On Day 337 the Finnish Independence War begins and start the first resistance war in eRepublik history. Norway loses Eastern Finland and Finland emerges on the map for the first time in 7 months. After celebrating eRepubliks 1st Birthday it is evident Norway is slipping. Finland and Russia are slowly gaining control of their original regions. Norway began suffering many PTO attempts many becoming successful as a means to attack the empire from within.

After Congress elections only Gullpartiet Party remained in Norwegian possession. A deal was made with Russia in which Norway returned all regions except for Volga, Eastern Siberia and Kaliningrad in exchange for control of Norway's Congress. Russia began damaging Norway from the inside by passing hostile laws within Norway. Eventually a new deal was brokered in which all regions were returned to Russia in exchange for not disrupting the Norwegian Congress.

Subsequent months show that Norway is no longer the Empire it once was and her place in the world has fallen as proven by Swedish and Finnish conquests of Norway. Norway would never regain its Empire status and without its population it once held would have to learn to use friendships and strong diplomatic ties over military aggression to move herself forward. Norway's population went from well over 2,500 to where it stands today usually just under 200 citizens.

Conclusion
What is the conclusion we can come up with from today's lesson? I think the biggest one is adaptability. In the early days nations such as Sweden and Norway dominated the map spreading out like something you would see today only being done by nations such as Serbia or Chile. Today nations like Czech Republic, Sweden and Norway must use diplomacy and carefully crafted alliances to ensure their safety and continuation in today's eWorld.
