Since the dawn of Erepublik, people have asked for some kind of Religion. The result today is 'sort of'- religion is on the Wiki but has no effect ingame.
Well, with the admins banging on about this happiness thing I was wondering; is there room for Religion? Could it increase our happiness?
Now don't get me wrong, this idea has room for change. But the concept could still be the same.
The basics of this 'eReligion' could be like this:

Creating a Religion. This would obviously be very expensive.

A Religion's 'HQ' would be like and org and it's location would be the 'Holy City'.

'Churches' could be built in regions and would be similar to Hospitals

Countries can only have on Religion. The Government decides this. This map shows the extent of one sample religion (cream). You can just see another in Italy (green) and Germany has no religion (dark grey).

Citizens chose their own religion, regardless of the national religion. The national religion could possibly have an effect on happiness if the Citizen's religion is the same.
In the end it's up to the admins, but this could be an interesting new feature to Erepublik after V2.

admins would never buy this plan. the locals in religously backward undeveloped places such as the US would probably decide it's all a front for worshipping santa.
This doesn't leave the option of a country not having an official religion. Also, if you make religions part of the game mechanics, people would treat them as nothing more than that, ie everyone would just choose whatever the countries religion as their religion just to get the bonus, most wouldn't be dedicated to them. Also it could lead to the game being accused of promoting religious warfare.
