Denmark Gains Independence

Day 2,481, 08:18 Published in Norway Sweden by noenting

On September 4 Denmark declared its independence from Germany. This is an unpredicted and spectacular end to what formerly was known as Germark.
The self appointed President of the Danish Empire explained publicly "Today, I do have the honor to announce the independence of the Danish Empire from the German oppression. This has been our dream for so long and it came true in just one day. This is awesome."

The Danish Empire

Our correspondent in Denmark reports "This is unbelievable. People are dancing in the streets and everybody is celebrating here. All shops and official buildings are closed. It seems people still had some old Danish flags in their houses and they all raised them today. I have never seen so much patriotism, with the exception of May 17 in Oslo."

In a strategically brilliant move the Danish resistance movement got access to the German Ministry of Defense and ordered German citizen to fight for Denmark. "It does not matter what you tell the Germans as long as you do it pretending you were the government, they will execute that order. We could have told them to undress themselves or sing the 'The Fox' for the entire day as well but we thought it was better to have them fight for our cause" says a spokesman of the newly appointed Danish President "When Sweden started to fight in Midtjylland we liberated Nordjylland and later on Syddanmark - we gained independence in a matter of hours. I never thought it would have been that easy. But if you want to excuse me now, I want to celebrate and drink some beer."
German Soldiers fighting for Denmark

We asked Åke S. from the Norwegian Institute for Foreign Politics how this situation will change the political landscape of Europe
"Everytime a new nation emerges this brings tensions to the area. This will be no different with Denmark. The UK, Germany might try to force Denmark to comply with their ideas, however Sweden and Norway will have some interests in that area as well. I would not be surprised if Denmark decided to stay neutral for now. This would allow them to call either side for help."

It remains yet to be seen how Germany will react on the latest events. Some German politicians stated the nation of Germark would still exist which could lead to just another war between Germany and Denmark. It seems possible that Danish forces will call the Nigerian Air Force (which defected to Svalbard) for help in such a war. In an interview the Chief in Command of the Nigerian Air Force Stated "You just can't go and conquer a neighbor. If we receive a call for help from Denmark we will intervene in such a war".
