Belgian Community in Relations to Global Statistics

Day 2,300, 12:31 Published in Belgium Belgium by Konrad Neumann

Referring to Cika's recent article about the state of eBE politics, he concludes that eBE is on the verge of death due to low voter turn outs. He claims that eBE has a voter turnout of 15.34 percent in our last CP election. While the number is low but it is the norm. It is the norms not just of eBE but of all countries in the world. I do however, find it problematic where he tries to link the wipe to voter turnout. For this if we look at it statistically and logically, has no causation and correlation at all. Here is a list of 40 countries and their percentage of voter turn outs. I did round up and down base on the number for a neat presentation.

eBE: 15 percent
eNL 22 percent
eUK 17 percent
eGer 19 percent
eUS 18 percent
ePL 21 percent
eSwiss 16 percent
eIt 17 percent

eMon 21 percent
eNK: 12 percent
eSK: 4 percent
eSlo: 28 percent
ePT: 17 percent
eISR: 15 percent
eSing 13 percent

Average is 18.775 percent

Overall, the numbers hovers around 15-20 percent. While there are extremes in the case of Brazil, South Korea and countries like Greece, Hungary, and Ireland, many countries like Spain, France, Belarus, UK has similar voter turn outs. Therefore, one cannot declare the wipe as a direct causation of low voter turnout for there is no factual evidence to support it. In addition, this shows that low voter turnouts is the norm. All countries do have a political active community but they are always in the minority of the overall population. As case and point, of the 31 countries here, the average percentage of this minority is 18.775 percent. Despite the rhetoric of some who likes to shout against the wipe with made up rants. Despite using romanticism and declarations that sounds nice on paper but makes no practical or logical sense, these statistics here shows that eBE in general is not much different from our neighbors and other countries in the world.

In closing There is no correlation between low voter turnout rates in relations to the wipe. Low voter turnout rates is a common phenomenon that exist in big, small, wiped, and non-wiped countries a like.
