Atlantis: rigged to implode
Treaty architecture less than well thought out

In-fighting between members of the same alliance is an obviously ludicrous idea. Therefore, eSweden clearly is in breach of the ATLANTIS treaty. Or, as Der Exilhesse founder herrmueller reportedly grumbled while passing a fellow editor in the hall, "maybe they ain't, at that"?

Some excerpts:

"Article V : Defence
1. Defence of a member nation
a) All active member nations must provide economic and military support if war is declared upon another member nation."

"Article VI : Aggression
1. Declarations of war
a) All declarations of war by a member nation of ATLANTIS must be announced to the alliance at least 48 hours prior to declaring the war. Permission is not needed to declare war.
i) No other member nation is obligated to provide aid to the member declaring war, but may do so if they wish.

2. Aid during aggression
a) No member nation is allowed to aid against another member nation. If they do not wish to support the war, the only option they have is to remain neutral in the matter."

In summary, according to Article V.1.a, all active members of ATLANTIS are to help eGermany against the eSwedish aggression. According to Article VI.2.a, however, they are not allowed to aid eSweden against eGermany, but may remain neutral.

These two contradictory Articles are the full extent of the treaty's directives for war amongst its members. War between ATLANTIS members apparently is not a breach of this treaty.

ATLANTIS is an alliance in which the member nations cannot even rely on the fact that their fellow members will not attack them at the worst possible time. Der Exilhesse does not believe that such an entity should even be called an alliance and suggests an amendment of that treaty which rules out in-fighting in the future.

If, indeed, ATLANTIS has any future at all after the events of the last few days.

Vertragswerk offenbar suboptimal

Dass sich Mitglieder einer Allianz untereinander bekriegen könnten, ist eine offensichtlich irrsinnige Vorstellung. Daher bricht eSchweden momentan klar die Charta von ATLANTIS. Oder, wie herrmueller, der Gründer des Exilhessen, angeblich in der Nähe eines Kollegen gemurmelt hat: "vielleicht auch nicht"?

Auszüge aus dem Originaltext können dem englischen Teil dieses Artikels entnommen werden.

Artikel V.1.a besagt, dass alle aktiven Mitglieder von ATLANTIS eDeutschland gegen eSchweden beistehen müssten. Artikel VI.2.a wiederum scheint auszusagen, dass andere Mitglieder eSchweden zwar nicht gegen eDeutschland unterstützen dürfen, allerdings aber neutral bleiben können.

Diese beiden Widersprüchlichen Artikel sind bereits alles, was das Vertragswerk zu Kriegen zwischen seinen Unterzeichnern aussagt. Ein Krieg zwischen ATLANTIS-Mitgliedern scheint kein Bruch der Charta zu sein.

ATLANTIS ist also eine Allianz, in der sich die Mitgliedsstaaten nicht einmal sicher sein können, dass sie nicht von den eigenen Verbündeten angegriffen werden. Der Exilhesse glaubt, dass ein solches Gebilde nicht einmal "Allianz" genannt werden sollte und empfiehlt dringend, das Vertragswerk so zu erweitern, dass interne Kriege in der Zukunft ausgeschlossen sind.

Wenn ATLANTIS nach den Ereignissen der letzten Tagen überhaupt noch eine Zukunft hat.
