A Dictator - A Salvation?

The greatest change in recent history is now a reality, when Military coups have been made possible. This article will not go into details of the update, so please read it from here.





The end?

When I first read the update, I went through all the emotions from disbelief, shock and scare to anxiety, intrigue and eventually, hope.

This update will mean great problems for small countries like eDenmark, who have small to none own military force to oppose foreign dictator. It might mean permanent PTO, and end of it all.

Dictator will have all power over CP and congress, can give passes and gets ownership of organisations. He can't be impeached, only fought through revolution which is as expensive as the coup.



Or salvation?

eDenmark is a powergaming society. We value our safety over everything. And now we have a chance to truly put a permanent stop to PTO threats, in all elections, for ever. We coup ourselves.

I suggest we make Maine Coon the deserving first dictator of eDenmark. We do this by starting a coup with official MU, and supporting it with official MU's, so that all citizens will have a chance to fight for it. We also send in-game message to all eDanes alive before it starts, and explain to them why we do this.

What we lose

We lose the de facto decision power of congress members. This will be biggest difficulty. Do we need that in the game? Is it of greater value than our final, permanent safety?

What we gain

We gain a lot: we don't have to worry about political takeover anymore, in any elections. A dictator can't be impeached or replaced, because Military Units don't have elections.

We no longer need to segregate people into trusted or non-trusted so vigorously: everyone has exactly as much chance to run for congress or CP because they are purely cosmetic offices - yet we can treat them as real positions. This means that even without in-game tools we can respect congress's opinions, because the dictator is one of us.

We no longer need to be wiped all the time, because we don't need to care about the size of our congress. This will take some pressure of Germany as well.

We will have total power over us, and we can empower more people in our country, without any risk of PTO's. This is the ultimate salvation of eDenmark.

We can change the dictator whenever we want: Commander gives the position to the next one. This means we can tie dictatorship to presidency, if we want. Then the people actually decide who is the dictator.



The costs and risks?

I will personally offer to pay the required 200 000 cc. If that is the price to pay for our salvation, I will pay it and smile.

The risk is, that someone will one day start a revolution. A successful revolution will restore democracy, and then if they wish to perform a coup, they need as much money again - in total 400 000 cc, plus other expenses of battle. If someone really that badly wants us, there is nothing we can do.

If we don't coup ourselves, however, that price is only 200 000 cc and one campaign - and we need to pay it anyways to even reach democracy again. So in my eyes now is our time, now, before anyone gets that idea. Now we can decide our own history and show to the world just how a powergaming society we truly are.
