Why write an article on an IRC bot?
Because he hangs out in channels used by eRep players, and said eRep players keep asking me what he can and can't do.

Why name him Detritus?

Because I'm a rabid Terry Pratchett fan and Detritus is one of my favorite characters he created.
The name later become even more fitting as I bolted pieces of code onto him. Some written by myself, a lot of it written by other, smarter people.

Where does he hang out usually?
At the moment he hangs out in #eAirborne, #eSouth_Africa, #eUruguay, stripclubs, the local bar and under bridges.



Can he make coffee?
No, he refuses to do it, and he wont take the garbage out either.

So what can he do?

.insult - will use a random Shakespearean insult

.weather - Well DUH! Usage: .weather -c (if you want celcius) Yourcity. When it comes to looking up weather, Detritus > Internets.

.qadd Will Add a Quote.
.qlines Will Tell You How Many Quotes There Is On The DB.
.qlast Will Tell you The Last Quote Added To The DB.

.sheep - be careful with that one

.google - Uses Google's "I'm feeling lucky" bit when searching for stuff

.greet - Greets you when you enter the channel. Use .greetme to set or .greeteditme to change.

There are other assorted bits and pieces in there that I forgot about now or that's only for my personal use.
I got it to look up eRep profiles, but the current eRepublik bot does it much better so I binned that bit. I will be working on it again though to look up certain stuff, mostly for myself.
