[Wild Owl] Farewell Address

Day 2,693, 00:48 Published in USA Poland by Wild Owl

I have been preparing to write this article for some time, but I decided to take a little more time to ponder it before I took to finally getting it all down. As you may have noticed, my three term presidency ends today. I have often mused about what I would like in my farewell address, and am honestly quite pleased with how the past three months have gone, and am rather excited about the future of our great Country.

In the past few months, we have become a pro-Asteria country. For the first time in our history, we have managed to be allied with a group of nations that have a massive advantage in damage on the battlefields and can win wars with just sheer numbers on the battlefield. While this does involve a tacit NAP with former arch enemy Serbia, I believe that we’re a better, stronger and richer nation for it. I personally believe that we’d probably be in the middle of a war, and would not have been able to lower our taxes, if we had not adopted our current Foreign Policy path.

My terms were filled with a large amount of military endeavors that saw us go to war with Lithuania, Ukraine, Estonia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Indonesia, North Korea, Ireland and Japan, but will probably be remembered for the resource wars in which we became the only country to get full bonuses. This could not have been possible without our entire country fighting for the same goal, and, when we worked together, we were truly successful.

The dictatorship module was, and still is, a controversial topic in USA and I intentionally adopted a laissez-faire approach to it. While I understand the game mechanics advantages of having one, I do realize the concerns of people who worry that they may lose all power, and Congress may just become a rubber stamp. That being said, as Dictator, I believe I upheld the constitution and all of the meta-laws that were set out to be followed by the Congress of the United States. I hope that as time goes on, people are able to unite and come to a common consensus on this prickly issue.

I believe that we are a great country, and we have the people, the community and the damage needed to be a top tier nation again. The USA may not be the power that it was around three years ago, but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't try to regain our lost stature. We have been blessed with an extraordinary location on the map, and we need to keep using it to our benefit.

I hope that my successors continue my practical approach to a strong United States of America and receive the extraordinary support that I received from all of you during my tenure as Country President.

Thank you,
Wild Owl
