1. Irish Training War
My Fellow Patriots,
The eUSA is currently engaged in a training war with Ireland. These battles allow our citizens to raise their true patriot totals as well as help break the monotony that exists in eRepublik as of late.
Regions captured by us in eIreland are RW'd and returned to eIreland. Feel free to support any resistance in these regions in order to gain a medal (please note these medals are not guaranteed), or feel free to fight for the RW for your next Freedom Fighter of Mercenary Medal!
To the people eIreland, to Irish-Americans and to all the Irish around the world we take this opportunity to wish them a Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
2. Dictatorship Update
Twenty days ago the Civil War / Dictatorship module was first introduced. This brought about a dramatic strategic risk to all nations. The implemenation of the civil war module meant that with a single battle a foreign intruder could conquer your country with only a three hour warning.
Many nations have decided that, following this update, the clear strategic choice as a first line of defense was to implement their own dictator.
Of the 74 countries in eRepublik, 42 currently have a dictator installed and another dictator is about to be imposed in Georgia, for a total of 43 dictators.
58.1% of all countries have a dictator imposed.

Glad to see Ireland doesn't have a frikking _dictator_. Jeez!
of the 42 (going on 43) countries with a Dictator... what's the breakdown of "defensive" vs "hostile" dictatorships?
notice that our arch enemy forever, Serbia, doesn't have a dictatorship. too bad ass to need one? too bad ass to worry about a hostile attempt? and the others, including some pissant easy mark countries... why no dictatorships there? how about some analysis, or even conjecture, on that?
it's difficult to say "defensive" vs "hostile" because there are many grey areas. it would be easier to break them down as internal vs external.
It shouldn{t be so difficult to distinguish between "defensive" (implented by the gov/congress of a country), "domestic opposition" (e.g. Romania, Greece) and "foreign take over" (Switzerland, Australia, Malaysia). Of course there are examples as in Spain where it¨s both: domestic opposition and foreign take over.
You need to have atleast 1 region to install a dictatorship. Most of the smaller countries without a dictator are wiped.
