[Trekker4CP] FCBD and the Value in loyalty

Day 2,720, 14:49 Published in USA USA by Trekker Tlumac

What a beautiful day in May. A day past May day and the second in the days of May.

Okay, enough babbling whimsically about the month of May and its days. Today also happens to be FCBD* or Free Comicbook Day (in the United States). I hope you got out there and got some good titles. I know I did. I picked up 5 of the free comics total. A Attack on Titan manga, a Doctor Who comic (Whovian4Life), a Transformers comic (to torture my sick cousin with), some steampunk Goldilocks comic, and a comic called "Captain Canuck" (which I feel should be wildly insulting, but apparently is a well established hero, as this year is the 40th anniversary).

Do I normally collect comics? Not really. I have a couple Walking Dead compendiums, a couple DeadPool graphic novels. Some more artsy Manga stuff that is less interesting and more historical. And a random assortment of comicbooks given to me over the years.

Still I feel that comics serve an important purpose in the world of today. And media in which culture can advance is great by me. Especially the art of storytelling. Because at the base of it all, storytelling is our true history. It tells us who we are, who our parents were, and who our children will be.

Some storytelling is flashy and exorbitant. Some of it is humble and modestly told. Both have their places. And both and excite the soul. In fiction, I prefer the first type, as it will generally make a better story. To see and believe the outlandish is possible. That can be a wonderful gift. But when it comes to stories about real heroes and valor, I trend towards the stories of those who bore their load with humility and grace.

No matter what the style of story telling or the events that transpire, the heroes inevitably have allies along the way. People within whom they have inspired trust. And this is the real secret behind any hero, the people who helped carry the banner. To that end, I have been eternally lucky. The people I get to work with on a daily basis have shown me nothing but loyalty. I am ever so grateful for them.

My team has stood beside me through thick and thin this month. I could not ask for a better group of people. They have stood by me even when I did not know I needed help. And I have heralded their ability without doubt. I trust them implicitly. I would like to believe they feel the same.

In the coming month we will continue our common struggle to help and build the country. I want you vote to help us down that path.

And so I will leave you with a quote from one of my favorite movies of all time:
A Knight's Tale

My people trust me. They come from all parties and all backgrounds, none of that matters because we share the common bonds of loving our country. The people I talk to personally trust me. I would like your trust too. Give me an honest shot at it and I will do my best to earn it.
