[PNhr] Party elections part one: Team Nippon
Sophia Forrester
Good afternoon. I'm C.L. Pastalia,
And I'm C.L. Pastalia.
This is
Today we take a look at the party elections, in which nine parties from all across eJapan will be electing new Presidents.
Don't you mean six parties? After all, in three of them only the current Presidents are running.
Ah, well... Nine parties will be holding elections, regardless of whether or not there is anyone running.
That makes sense! So first in the lineup is Team Nippon.
As usual, eJapan's largest political party has no shortage of contenders.
There are ten different candidates! Even though as of 10:00 this morning eRep time, only six had gotten any votes.
With its large membership, Team Nippon is home to several candidates who run month after month without much chance of being elected.
But this month, that's not the whole story, right? The candidate in second place is a surprise challenger -- former Democratic Owls member Squibeel!
That's right. Veteran citizen Squibeel has chosen to leave his former party and stand for election with the nation's largest.
So he changes his party in order to run for election? Isn't that a little unusual?
Well, it isn't normal, but it's happened all the time in eJapan's history. Current Team Nippon President Fruitcommando is especially well-known for party-hopping, running for the Democratic Owls this past spring, and the ULJ in summer and fall.
So, is Squibeel out for payback then?
He's a serious candidate! Remember, Squibeel was a member of Team Nippon for a while before they changed their name from Imperial Sun Party. I'm sure he's running to give the party an alternative to Fruitcommando, and who can blame him?
If you say so. FNN, "Fair and biased!" Come back later for more election coverage, including a little-known party that might be the very most important race today!
But first, a word from our sponsor.

Whew, formatting fixed. I need to get to the point where it only takes an hour to write one of these things.
I pretty much think Squib is just destructive and we won't see anything good from him. 🙁
You two used to be on pretty good terms. Mind if I asked what changed your mind?
He used his position as SG of Terra to tell half the game we were pto'd by South Korea.
Squib told INCI to come and "ATO eJapan". That 110 multi baby on day 1 was enough to see this was not a good idea. I don't mind new players, but many of the INCI don't even speak English, not to mention Japanese. How would you communicate with them if there are issues between them and the current population?
Squib doesn't write articles, I don't see him talking on the chat or on the forums, yet he has hundred votes from somewhere... If these 100 player shares his beliefs why can't I at least see them complaining under articles with comments, or on the forum or somewhere?
Japan this summer was a nice country everyone was trying to hold together and improve the situation in this country. Now I see shady methods to try to take over the country for a badge, as such a take over would never last more than a day.
saw Squib fighting against SK now. Ppl were asking me, why is our strongest soldier fighting against them? 🙁
He's not the strongest.
He was getting those vote totals for months before iNCi was anywhere in the picture.
More broadly, this country has for quite some time had a strong "protest vote" that bucks the consensus from the forums. Candidates like Minamoto Yoritomo and Kita Ikki were elected despite opposition from the most active, "insider" players. So rightly or wrongly, there are players her who vote but don't post -- and there have been for quite a long time. The numbers hardly changed post iNCi, so I have to be a bit doubtful.
That said, you're both sincere and you have decent reasons to suspect. My main gripe with Squibeel lately has been that he flat-out gave up on trying to explain himself to the "mainstream" crowd. That does make it difficult, not impossible but difficult, to think he'd be a successful CP.
Meh.. My comment got eaten by a headless chicken. I never said Squib got votes from iNCi.
What I'm saying is that Kita Ikki (you example) was CLEAR in many articles and on the forum too, what he wanted to change and what he wanted to do differently. So the voters knew what to choose from and he got votes from people who felt more represented by his ideas than by others.
Squib had no real manifesto, he only said the usual stuff, not being different than the other candidates. So how the hell does this 100 voter know what Squib wants, and how the hell can he represent their will without talking to them?
