[Pfeiffer] Gnilraps for President!

Day 2,322, 18:13 Published in USA USA by Pfeiffer.
VOTE GNILRAPS FOR PRESIDENT

As Gnilraps has now decided to seek a second term, we have a candidate fully capable and ready to continue the transition of our military...because he's the one who started it. I know he will do well, and I am available to help him in any way I can. Vote for Gnilraps to keep things moving forward steadily. He's the man who wiped Canada, gave us a fairly stable 10/10 resource bonus, and has navigated the early days of our new alliance with aplomb.

He's also a snazzy writer. Read his announcement article HERE.

because I enjoyed my article, it will stay here for context.

Dear friends,

We are at a very interesting time in the USA, and I say this as one of the few people to witness basically all of them.

Our wipe of Canada was a very long time coming, and should be celebrated. Completing the work of our early leaders is a noble calling, and Canada was and remains our oldest foe.

But that isn't what I'm speaking to, primarily.

The recent move to consolidate our military forces into a single mechanical unit is of significant import. Having the collective membership of our military in one unit offers a number of advantages, which I outlined in a previous article.

As this is occurring, our current President has decided not to seek a second term in office. I encouraged him to do so, but it is his decision, and I trust he is doing what is best for himself and what he thinks is best for the community.

I must do the same.

I've decided to run for President.

This is not a decision I've come to lightly. I asked several people I felt could do the job well if they were interested, and was rebuffed. We have two candidates currently announced, each strong in different areas. My decision to run should not suggest to anyone that I don't respect their strengths or them as people, I've been friends with Aramec for a few years now, and Tyler is as close to a home town guy as I've got in eRep. They'll both be fine Presidents when their time comes, and that time may come now for one of them.

I am running because we are merging our military into a single unit. For once in my eRep career, I am a single issue candidate.

The creation, reformation, rebranding, rebuilding, and consolidation of our military has only happened once prior to today, and the potential for significant road bumps is high.

My personal history has seen me take on command level roles in multiple military units, stretching back years. I've been a member of the National/Home Guard, the Mobile Infantry, the US Marines, the Cannon Cockers, SHIELD, ST6, Woldy's Warriors, and Easy Company. I founded the Ultramarines along with two friends, and grew the unit to nearly 200 men. We then dispatched most of our officers to become the commanders of the newly reformed Army (now Air Force) and later Flight Training. I helped craft the new military then, and even later with the creation of the now retired Rogue Squadron.

I'm standing in this election because while I expect to lose, I also can't sit idly by and roll the dice on this new venture.

This is serious. Look how serious Taylor is here.

I only made the final decision to run this morning, and have been in church for a good portion of that, so I've not nailed down all of my cabinet. But here's who I want in the core positions. If they say no, fine...but this is the team I'd ask to stand with me in moving forward this month:

John Largo as Vice President. Most would assume Largo and I don't get along, we even competed in a Presidential election once upon a time, but that isn't the case. I like and respect John, and if he would spend a smidge more time on IRC, I'd actively court him to run for the Presidency himself. His experience will be invaluable should we win, and I look forward to his input on how we manage our new mega-MU.

I want David Wilson as my Chief of Staff. He's very clearly been gearing up for a run at the big chair himself, and I'd like to toss him into the deep end and see how he does. Trial by fire is how I do it. I'm sure he'll exceed expectations, he just needs to put his mind to it.

I intend to retain Wild Owl as head of the Foreign Affairs office. We need experience there, but he is only retaining the position with the mandate to hire, train, and begin transition of the job to new people. I know he's capable, and I know he will find a strong group of viable candidates for the future of our foreign service office.

dmjohnston will take up residence in the Secretary of Defense's office. His was a voice I'd like to have heard more of in the planning stages of this military unit merger, and my hope is that he will return home to the Armed Forces and help to steer us in a good direction.

While the President will mechanically command the unit, and the Secretary of Defense will handle coordination of military strategy and administration, we will require an Operations Section Chief. I hope to have Oblige fill this role. Our political differences aside, he is an extremely adept people manager, and in the early days of this unit the name of the game is efficiency.

The remaining 'regular' departments, Interior, Education, and Media...I am going to solicit suggestions from the current staff. All of them have proven capable over time, and they will know best which of them are in the best position to continue their work. Custer has dibs on Media if he wants it though, just cause he was my Media guy last time and we worked well together. The NSC will exist, but the idea of having a chairman doing strategy hasn’t been the case in a while, it’s more of a position that usually has Presidential account access and sits through meetings. I’ll have Defense sit in meetings as necessary, and orders setting will be done by a number of people. For the national MU, the Operations Section Chief will be responsible for ensuring orders are set accordingly in each Regiment.

See below my intended plan for the new MU Command structure:

I know this is a late announcement, but please do consider me when heading to the polls this month. This project is incredibly important to me, as it’s something we’ve worked towards for several years. I’d like to see it implemented properly, and believe that in my time here I have proven that I am more than capable to meeting the challenge.

Both Aramec and Tyler will have a seat at the table should I win, and I will do whatever I can to assist them should I not.

This will be the first time I run for President without many weeks of preparation and backroom discussions, so know that any derpery you might stumble across here is mine alone. For the first time in my eRep career, I’m actually running on the “Let’s all be friends and work together and stuff” platform, and it feels weird so I’m not sure what will happen next.

Should you have any questions or concerns, you can ask them in the comments below, or find me in my IRC room #Pfeiffer.

As always, if needed, I remain

Yours,

~Pfeiffer

I don’t know about you, but Taylor seems excited at this news
