Note: Against huge wall of text, pictures of Bulgaria 🙂

Q1/ Tell us more about you - who are you ingame? What did you do throughout your eLife? Also, how did you learn about eRepublik and why did you start playing it?
A1/ - I came upon eRep quite accidentally and don't have a specific memory of it, however what motivated me to stay and play was that eBulgaria at the time was one of the smallest countries in the game. If I'm not mistaken we were ranked 60 and had no more then 150-200 players.

As far as what I've done in the game, the shorter version is probably what I haven't, though I've not always wanted to be in the spot light on the contrary for a long time I tried to stay out, however my early choices of playing character and style have put me in a situation where I have to accept responsibility for helping out. For the most part I've been involved in the governing of Bulgaria under one form or another except the last 6 months before this, when I stayed out of it. Hated or loved, I'm kind of known in the "diplomatic circles" but I don't like to "brag" so I'll leave it at that.

Q2/ By the time you registered, what was the situation in eBulgaria? (Political/Military/Social). How would you describe eBulgaria now? What is the difference between now and then? Is there a positive change?(If yes, what is it?/ If no, why?)
A2/ When I registered eBulgaria was a small country nestled between 4 of the top countries in the game. Romania was #1 power and Serbia was just starting their rise to top dog. Greece and Turkey were both top 10 powers and in a bitter never-ending war.

The inevitable happened and Romania decided to have her way with Bulgaria which had been staying firm and denying passage through it's territory to both Serbia and Romania for months. This would shape things for us for months ahead and would be the reason a small BB at the time to get very active and create a big one, which was and to some extent continues to be the propeller of eBulgaria even now.

The game was different back then, there were only a few "high resource" regions on the map and Bulgaria was one of the few countries with none at all (most had grain at least). Companies were region based and would move into the country which held the region and hence Bulgaria had virtually no economy, not much of a military as there was no income to finance it with except donations. No ways to go anywhere because of it's geographic position (back then there were no borders through the black sea to Russia or Ukraine).

Nowadays eBulgaria is the 3rd power in the game after Poland and Serbia, but it's disadvantaged geographical position and lack of weak countries on it's borders are limiting it's ability to maximize it's potential as the other two can. Also it has assumed a slightly different style of play, maybe because of that over time. It has a big expatriate community in many countries around the world, but mostly no one is very much aware because they rarely engage in local politics and hence Bulgaria is the only big country to never have engaged in PTO activities. It has a quite democratic system of governance though it has been somewhat shaken as of late and will be heavily challenge with the new oligarchy friendly political module that Plato is implementing, which has given it strength of conviction, but has gotten it in trouble with allies at times who could not understand keeping to principles over interest.

Q3/ What was your best moment in eBulgaria so far? And your worst? Why?
A3/ Classifying best and worst is hard, probably the most interesting was last year during april invasion of Bulgaria of ONE who back then had absolute domination over the game and fighting them off with 5 NEs for a week. Tactics and discipline and coordination still played a much more prominent role back then and only after plato changed the rules of the war module did Bulgaria succumb to the superior opposition. (Basically rounds used to be 2 hours no matter if you got to 1800 points earlier, so one could win a round and wit discipline avoid wasting damage, while a more undisciplined foe would, it also meant that battles had a predictable timing and different time zones could be used for a tactical advantage).

Worst would probably be, the betrayal of the "sisterhood". Romper and EDEN "elite" wanted to dominate ONE and they saw their ticket to do that by accepting Turkey at all cost, this is where the democratic system of Bulgaria and it's conviction to keep to it became the problem and the consequent dirt and propaganda campaign used by EDEN is the one thing that has left the most bitter taste in my mouth and I'm sure many other players as it brought out the worst in a game where we're supposed to be to enjoy ourselves not reinvent the slime of the real word with new vehemence. So I guess the way EDEN traded Bulgaria for Turkey because of 50 million more damage at the time is the worst.

Q4/ Why did your country create CoT and what did they expect from it ?
A4/ CoT was very much a result of the above. After the exit from EDEN and the exit from Phoenix 1 year earlier in similar circumstances, though I have to say Phoenix countries were a lot more "civil" about it, Bulgaria had no choice but to look to form an alliance which would adhere to it's understanding of what an alliance should be, equality, mutual respect and help regardless of size. This process was hard, painful, has taken a long time and is by no means over yet. However CoT is here and it will grow and strengthen over time because the values it is built on will help it prevail, simply because deleting a country does not shake it's fundamentals as does the same in the damage-hood alliances. The struggle will continue for the foreseeable future but I'm confident that in time there will be enough countries who recognize this style of play as their own and the alliance will become self sufficient which is not at the moment.

Q5/ Was this fulfilled
A5/ Yes and no, the expectations are getting fulfilled slowly, but not yet and it is much slower then "wanted" or anticipated. So in a sense the goal has not been reached yet, though there is no going back. It is in essence only a matter of time for it to happen, how much it remains to be seen.

Q6/ Do you think our nation, Belgium would fit into the alliance?
A6/ Most smaller nations would fit without a problem for the simple reason that while small none really have agressive, expansionist or domination based ambitions and thus are much more of a team player and not being prejudiced towards others based on damage, resources and so on. The question that remains however is the ability of the alliance to help everyone at all times, as no matter of it's value system it has to contend with the reality of the game and that for the moment is that the alliance is not strong enough on it's own to do so. Thus weather Belgium or any other smaller/medium size country is "a good fit" is somewhat dependent on the ability of the alliance to help it if needed. If it is unable to do, then it would be doing a disservice both to the new country and all existing members by accepting it.

Q7/ Do you have an opinion about Belgium and how do you see the diplomatic status of Belgium in your country/between our both nations?
A7/Unfortunately Belgium for the most part has not been involved in the main battlefields or historical events in the game, so my knowledge of the country is quite limited. I know that it has had a sizable foreign population in the past including some problems with TOs and that at times it opted for a political union with the Netherlands, however that is the extent of what I know about Belgium.

As far as diplomacy is concerned, we're always open to relations with friends and foes, small or big countries, as this is after all a game ad past our battles on the battlefield it has a big social factor. After all we all share a common interest in it, which is what sets us appart form the rest of the millions aimlessly traversing the internet. Meeting people and making friends is the one thing ne can win from this game, everything else is fleeting.

Q8/ Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
A8/ I like to use one saying: Be different, be yourself. Cherish your individuality, fight for your beliefs, but respect others at the same time. The two are not mutually exclusive and as long as one does it, he would not, no he could not have any regrets in the end.

Cheers,

Greetings
