[MoEd] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Day 2,339, 07:41 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Department for Education

Introduction
I’m sure most of you already know that we in the eUK have ministries to help our beloved Prime Minister with all necessary tasks. Most are featured every month, e.g. the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Defence, while some are less common, e.g. the Ministry of Entertainment, and there are even some that has not been around for longer periods of time, e.g. the Ministry of Legislative Affairs and the Ministry of Communications.

This will be an article series informing the eUK of what all the ministries do, their purpose, how to start out within a ministry, along with more useful information. The length of this article series has not yet been decided on and will all depend on the length of each part.

It is mainly focused as a guide for newcomers but may be useful for citizens of all eAges, whether you’re looking to get more involved or just want to know more about the different ministries this will hopefully give you a sense of what’s going on.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs
To start off, I decided to pick the ministry where I started my political career. The name mostly says it all, this is where the main contact between ourselves and allies, and even enemies are made. Most basic MPP renewals are automatically completed between the countries involved, while some completely new MPPs will most likely be discussed with the country in question. Depending on if the current Prime Minister relies on his Minister to handle it or likes to take part himself, it also depends on the background between the two countries and current atmosphere in the eWorld.

Basically the Ministry of Foreign Affairs main tasks is to keep up relations with foreigners, allies and non-allies. Most terms the MoFA also informs the eUK public of what’s going on in the world, through articles written either by the minister herself or by an appointed deputy minister.

Most Prime Ministers appoint one or two ministers, who then gets the possibility to appoint deputies to help out with everything from conducting interviews and writing articles to discussing MPP renewals. A deputy’s tasks depends on the ministers reliance on the deputy and the experience and ability he brings to the table. This is not the only way to get involved with the FA department, you can also apply to become an ambassador. The ambassador position come and go, depending on if the minister likes the idea and has the time and patience to mentor and administer them. I myself love the IDEA of ambassadors, as it’s a good way to keep up relations with as many countries as possible and a great entry point into the ministry. Although, it requires a lot of patience and has to be done right, for it to be worthwhile.

According to me, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is one of the most important departments, as in Erepublik you’re always at war, either directly or indirectly through allies. It always offers good opportunities for citizens to get involved and grow as a ePolitician.

“FA is the best Ministry to learn the game without having to role play at all, however it does asks a little bit of effort as you really need to know most important game mechanics and to read battles without having to be a strategist.”
mittekemuis - Former three time Country President and has a ton of experience as the Minister of Foreign Affairs in both the UK and in several other countries.

"The MoFA is the go to contact point for other countries. Being the minister has helped me to understand the intentions and motivations of other- nations and from that determining the geopolitical moves.”
Ayame Crocodile - Former Country President and current Minister of Foreign Affairs.

That’s it for this one, look out for the next coming up!

Best Regards,
Kapten Johnson
