[Irish Army] Boot Camp - Update 2

Day 2,651, 07:45 Published in Ireland Ireland by Mr. Tayto

February 22, 2015

Hello Soldiers.

How goes the battle?

I am glad to see that the number of new recruits is steady. New blood is always needed. I am glad that I have finally gotten some responses to the welcome message that is sent to new recruits and that uniforms are being worn.

Active Soldiers

For the IA to be effective we need people who are active. People who not only fight when needed but people who are active in the community be that in the press, IRC, shout threads or even on eIreland Radio. Feeling a part of the community helps ensure that new players will stick around for a while. Far too many new players leave us after a day or two as they don’t become involved. They lose interest. The ranks are full of recruits who have not even become full members of the IA as they never came back after day 1. Well we want you to come back.

Time to Study

Now I promised you new recruits some new reading that will help with your fighting ability. This article was written by Gnilraps and is an excellent read.

This article also by Gnilraps discusses strength and experience.

So get reading.

Patience is a Virtue

When you signed up for the IA I am sure you saw on your Citizen page all the shiny medals you can win like the Battle Hero medal or Campaign Hero. Well I am here to tell you that you probably won’t rush right out and win one. I won’t tell you it is impossible. You never know if the right circumstances are met and you may luck into one but it probably won’t happen for a while without the proper training and hard work. But if you increase your strength, follow orders and learn a few tricks you can start to accumulate those medals.

This speech was not meant to discourage you. Far from it. It was meant to prepare you for what is in all probability going to happen for the first few weeks. So don’t get discouraged if you don’t win one of those medals right away. Heck I have been here for 5 plus years and I only have 4 Battle Heroes. But then again I didn’t have the benefit of the learning and advice that you have just been given. So use that opportunity you have been given and become an effective fighter for Ireland.

Lastly I want you to remember that at any time you can ask for food. I have quite a bit at the moment and all you need to do is ask. I will give what I can to help you on your way.

Anthony Colby
Bootcamp Officer.
