[Hale4PP] What we've done

Chaos is inherent in all compounded things.

I believe in structure.

A lot of that belief comes from my earlier gaming experience. I used to make these straightforward jobs into complex, intricate mechanisms. Which was…lovely, for me. But those systems just weren’t structurally sound. The weakness in them was that if I was hit by a bus the next day, my mechanisms couldn’t be upheld.

I rarely want anyone in Erep to be hit by a bus…hard, at least. Maybe 30kmph - just enough to shake things up, you know? Regardless, the principle I found through trial error in my earlier days always guides me both in my real life work and ingame time. Create something good that can outlast you. Because if you don’t, your work would’ve been pointless.

When I got into the PP’s chair this month, rather belatedly because of real-life dwellings, I tried keeping that one word in mind - structure. It was a horrifically slow start by the way, to which I completely own up to. But as matters progressed, more and more structured ideas were coming together. The kind of ideas that bring a party out of its downward slope, back into the game.

It started with assembling a real team. That’s always a hard task when the party is in a lower point of the cycle but regardless, a few decent judgement calls later (some were harder than others 😉 ) we got a damn good Cabinet.

From there, we ensured that normal functionings returned. Communications Minister Blande sent proper notice of all Primaries and the Cabinet as a whole made sure those primaries came together as required. My PP addresses were sent out as well, along with a few tanks as incentive.

Alright, so no big deal - we got the lights on, door stopped squeking. But we’re still like, weeeks behind on our leg day game (A common phenomenon both in eAmerica and RL America, I’m sure). So we targetted two key areas, and touched on another: Retention, Recruitment and Political Involvement.

I’ve always thought the role of the Retention Director to be that of a good host - you make people feel welcomed and included. In Erep, we have the mediums of IRC, Forum and Ingame to do that. So we’ve begun THE. LARGEST. CAMPAIGN. IN MEMORY. to bring people to our forums. This push by all the great people in Retention is bringing more Peoplers onto the Forums and has turned our dead forum upside down. There’s new WTPers signing up, new posts and real talks. Special mention to one of the most inspiring deputies I’ve seen in sometime - Aaron Web.

The results of recruitment are less visible as they are structural. In a few days time, we would’ve established the first system we have had in months properly tracking our numbers relative to the nation. Knowledge is power. AND - We’re going to see daily welcomes of all our new members. Making people feel welcome ingame means drawing them to the shoutfeed with a “HI!!”, a friend request, a message and gifts often times. Whalefare, sponsored by our resident Elitist Oblige, sure takes care of gifts as the most GENEROUS party program in the nation. Now we’ve got the vision and background to, in a few days time, get the social side down.

Then, Political Involvement. You can imagine our six Congressmen and I were pretty disappointed by the results of last cycle. As a 7-time PP, I’ve seen us in our highest position (#2 in the nation) and our lowest. The cycles do as the cycles do. I can’t promise we’re going to do fantastic next month. However, there are structural changes we took - I’ve put forward the idea of bringing back the Mandate to Campaign to WTPKongress. More campaigning equals more media which, deity-willing, equals better results. Now, if I can stop being horrible and start that discussion we’re going to be assuming a party stance right before Congress apps open.

As a 7-term PP, I’m not in this for style points or legacy. What my team and I are in this for, what we’re in this for is being a real voice for eAmericans. Our Party commitment to fairness, respect and inclusion was born out of a time when those ideals were lacking in eAmerica. The view of our 150+ membership was worth fighting for when I started this game and is still worth fighting for today.

I have not worked a miracle in 1 month. Nor have I been the PP we deserve, to be frank with you. What I have done is reminded us what we stand for, ran the best party in eAmerica and brought in results. Yes, there’s a primary where I’m running against that bi*** “Abstain”, foe from a few terms back. Yes, I’ll be PP next month whether I explain why I want to work for the cause or not. However, this party, like any other, fell into a slump because of a Community that stopped acting as a Community. I don’t want to be the mechanical Party President. I want to be YOUR Party President.

Abstain and his/her bi***ness be damned, I'm making my case.

My Cabinet, to be published on the day of elections, will remain largely the same. My vision is to continue the work of this current month, in combination with the following-

#1- Retention has 3 mediums: Ingame, Forum and IRC. Forum development will be finished, Ingame is split accross Recruitment and Media, and finally we will push into IRC.

#2- Recruitment is as much about what you know as it is how you get people. We’ve made sure the basic high-yield recruitment tactics are functioning and, soon enough, we’re going to be adopting recruiting people into the community instead of just the party (Community welcomings, orchestrated by recruitment). Once high-yield and community recruitment are done, we move to low-yield recruitment (more on that later).

#3- We will see the most interesting Congress season we’ve had in months. Both during the primaries and after.

#4- Internal political functionings will run without mistake. This involves a return of PAC under highly competent leadership and continuing the awesome that is Communications.

#5- WTP Media will return in force.

#6- We will have newer WTPs become outspoken, active leaders of our party and its values. And that, is more important than anything.

To end off, there’s something I want to make note of. Our party slogan, INSURGIO~ means to “rise above” or “to fight”. Originally, Mazzy and I questioned it because it sounded too battle-cryish. However, the need to fight for something better is a common trait in all our members. Populism is not complacent and neither are its followers. And so, it stuck.

I have two more pieces prepared showing exactly how we’re going to fight through the next month. What I ask is that from today to this 15th to the next, you send a vote, a shout, a comment or even a PM my way and join me in that struggle.

Thank you.
