[CPC] My First Days in Congress

Day 2,292, 22:48 Published in Canada Ukraine by piggy sev

I got elected to Congress from the Conservative Party of Canada already having developed many bills and many ideas in mind. According to the CPC's statute, as a Vice-President I am in charge of leading our party's fraction within Congress, and I am honored to have this position. Also, I had the chance to vote for my first proposal which was an MPP with Portugal. I voted YES, since Portugal has been our long-time close ally.

I present to you my first bill that I've submitted so far.

As most of you probably know, we have an extremely outdated Presidential Welcome Message. It is 8 months old, provides very limited useful information and is linked to an outdated external website. Hence I propose that the President changes this message and have the Congress support this. Here is the text that I've prepared. It is up to the president of course to modify it, but the need for an updated message is quite apparent.

Hello and welcome new Canadian! Our country is currently facing big demographic, economic, political and military problems, hence every citizen is important! The game features many elements to it, hence focus on becoming accustomed to it and learning about all of its mechanisms. I encourage you to look over these helpful links:
- (The President or the MoE can include links that they see fit)
- http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-ed ... 77540/1/20

Quick tips:
- Do NOT spend gold!
- Do NOT fight excessively
- Preserve your money and focus on building strength
- Contact http://www.erepublik.com/en/citizen/profile/1446768 if you have any questions

Now it's just a matter of copy and paste.

There are a few suggestions so far, but mostly empty rude critique. The suggestions include: having a french translation, not to discourage players from fighting, having the players contact all Canadian ministers, including a link to the forum and providing a more positive tone.

- I fully support having the french translation of the message. It is only logical, and does not require any further debating.
- Discouraging players from fighting is not as important right now, since the D1 was extended to level 34, but the citizen must understand that it is better for him/her to preserve money and gold. Removing it is an open option if the rest of the bill goes through.
- Having the new citizens contact all the ministers seems too chaotic and this particular task/niche is under the competency of the MoE.
- Forum link - asking the citizen to visit another external website is overwhelming at the start, but perhaps it could be added to the "Quick Tips" section.
- Providing a more positive tone - makes sense, but the current message only openly states the current problems and can have a "rally around the flag" effect which can be of great benefit towards retaining players.
