Depending on the rewards, it's probably worth weathering this "super overburdensome" Work Tax for a week to claim the ones based on having matching CS and MU membership.

Hawkie work's at the discretion of Congress. It is a position appointed by Congress, outside of the control of the PotUS.

And Congress is not influenced by the POTUS? They pay no attention to a major policy initiative (bring Americans home for this one-week contest) launched by the chief executive?

Congress can be influenced by the PotUS, but the IES Director generally is not. Generally the PotUS stays far away from immigration, as it's a congressional function. The IES directory independently screens applicants for approval based on their background. Congress doesn't really tell him who to approve either.

He's supposed to act as an independent official who congress trusts to screen applicants and approve them before in-game acceptance, making sure all accepted foreigners are safe.

If you're application was denied, you may want to PM Hawkie and ask for an explanation.

My application was not denied. That of Leather Neck, an American hero, was denied.

But Americans attempting to return in response to Gnilraps' plea should know that the process is far from automatic. If the IES denies Leather Neck, don't think for a second that just because you were American in the past means you'll be welcomed back. Better to stay in Croatia or wherever. The contest Gnilraps is promoting is only a week long, and you are by no means assured of US cz.

This could be viewed as part of Gnilraps' intention to create one super US MU under the absolute control of the POTUS. Whether the POTUS that month happens to be competent, worthless, or even a PTO candidate.
