What is eRussia for me, or 2-years anniversary

Day 1,124, 00:05 Published in Bulgaria Ukraine by chebbba

On the 25th of November it was my exact 2 years in game. There is one phrase one close friend of mine keeps saying: “All of my friends are getting married or pregnant, I’m just getting drunk”. So 2 years is a lot of time. I was not active all the time, but I kept watching the game and was informed about every little thing happening on an international arena and in my home country Russia. I didn’t write an article back then, but now I feel the need to tell what this game was about for me and what is eRussia actually. This article will be full of my personal view on russian events, and also full of some stuff I experienced.

I joined eRepublik when eRussia was occupied by eRomania and eNorway. It was great times. eRussian community, not really united, but still excited (because all of us discovered such a great time-killing office game) tried to free eRussian regions in all possible ways, but firstly with diplomacy since there was few of us and we were weak and new. There was no real option for eRussia but joining Peace, guys there seemed okay (since even Gladdos has some Russian roots and he was PEACE SG back then or, forgive me if I am wrong, at least someone important there), eRussians didn’t really consider having talks with eRomania, because eRomania didn’t really consider to take us into account. Also at those times eRussia was ruled by some role-playing commies, from Sweden and Canada, and God, how entertaining they were. Those guys still own eRussia something like 80k rubles because of their awesome TAX EVERYTHING AND KEEP HEALTHY idea. I repeat, guys were really entertaining, because most of them were not even close to being commies in real life (with some unnecessary exceptions).

I don’t want to start talks about political struggle which immediately appeared in eRussia when we freed our first region. Gentlemen, if you think that you are honored oldfags who know how to deal with everything, believe me, if you are not eRussian and weren’t there back then you may consider yourself a noob in ePolitics. For example, now it is not a question for me to go sleeping during elections day. 2 years ago none of eRussian citizens were sleeping during elections. Our “Igors” were alive as well, but I will start talking about it later. I also recall some real hate which I never saw anywhere but in eRussia.

Everything has changed when we got our first babyboom. It was made by Uncleded, now honorary 3-times banned player, who is a nice guy btw (still waiting for your girlfriend, Ded, I repeat I choose a tattoo) and really was working his ass off to make eRussia a great country. This babyboom once and forever changed eRussia. We got this so-called Habra-effect, because people Uncleded was recruiting to game came from Habrahabr site. This site is one of the most popular russian private IT-community. It is also full of channers.

Why everything changed? Well, people can name different reasons, but I think everyone will agree with a simple fact that when community keeps growing the average level of people becomes lower. I’m not saying people were dumb, God no, just there suddenly were too much of them and no one really knew what to do with them. So they felt freedom and kept acting not very nice. Previously no one really considered to steal eRussian government money, and only channer president did it at first and then tried to sell this virtual gold for RL cash.

I can say I have to give eRussia a credit in this aspect. For example, I have plenty of friends in this particular game, who inform me proudly about the amount of cash they were able to steal from government when they were in charge (MoF, MoD or smth behind the lines). Even presidents in plenty of countries did that. You can’t even imagine a possible rage of eRussians if they get to know about smth like that. All this time we had to do real accounting (I mean real bookkeeping), most of the time guys who were really good with numbers were in charge of eRussian money. If someone was at least accused in stealing he was immediately virtually raped.
But once again, no one really considered doing this. Probably because we know it’s dishonest, and the other reason is we always had plenty of multie-masters who were able to feed themselves and others.

The pivotal point was when eRussians elected a RL Spaniard Moredan Kantose to be their President. This guy was a real role-player, who was really not bringing RL to the game and was indeed an eRussian patriot. I have to say I hated the guy and was trying to make his life miserable in all possible ways. Started with trolling, I proceed to spread my personal agenda against him and if there is any way for him to read this article, then Eduardo, let me tell you I’m sorry. The main problem with him was his not eRussian mentality and incredible stubbornness. He couldn’t get well with anyone from army and that’s why army decided to make him the so-called XYNTA (you will probably read it as [ksinta], but actually it should be read as [hunta]).

I have to punch line XYNTA. It has started with Moredan and is getting on eRussian nerves till today. How to explain what is this? XYNTA consists of army guys, most of them were in presidential chair or were someone important in eRussian army. Military dictatorship so to say. eIlluminati of eRussia. They started to rule country back then, and this was the moment when eRussia started to die. You most probably couldn’t get elected without a silent approval of XYNTA, not to mention the amount of gold these guys were able to spend. Those famous eRussian “20 000 gold” disappeared during XYNTA in power. It’s not really a community of people now, it is a way of thinking. I don’t like you – I’ll make you feel XYNTA. I like you – welcome to the club. Moredan was the first president who tried to change that, but ofc couldn’t succeed. And all of us were blind enough to realize that our support of Xynta back then was leading to situation eRussia has now.

Currently eRussia is ruled by 5 people who can make your e-life miserable. Nowadays eRussian president Alicanto has an incredible feature to be absolutely insensitive to the amount of dirt XYNTA keeps throwing at him. I’m not protecting the guy, but still, I can understand him.

So I was observing eRussia all these 2 years. Now I clearly see that media is the only part of the game which was, is and will be my favorite one. It is due to my RL job (I’m a journalist) but mostly because of my desire to make conclusions and find parallels with real life.

What can I say about eRussia? It is a worthy ally. eRussian people overall are:
1) far from being perfect in knowing English ( I’m a great example)
2) have this shiny feature of being always grateful and never betraying anyone, or better yet, they really don’t want to seem like betrayers because of RL history
3) Russians play for fun and for fights (as in quarrels). They really enjoy watching someone sh*tting on someone else’s clouds, I can name it a national russian pastime. If ePolitics doesn’t provide entertainment, Russians feel boredom and leave the game.
4) Whatever eRussians claim, they are not real nationalists. They are patriots, but in good sense of this word.
5) All eRussian players consider themselves incredible specialists in ePolitics, eMilitary and economics. Try writing an article there and see Ghandi, Karl Marx and Napoleon in comments.

I was always denying my connection with eRussia. If I didn’t like smth there I left easily and was observing eRussian life from abroad. But when eRussia got in trouble, I was always there to help them. This is my main conclusion during these 2 years: you can’t really run away from yourself. I’m not naming it nationalism since I’ve never taken this game for serious and ofc not going to put my RL to eRussian well-being. But I can say that whatever happened with me in this game, my home is there and they are the only ones who are always ready to take me back.

On this “full of love” note I’m ending article about my e-life. This is probably last article in this newspaper because of Christmas and New Year. I know I won’t get my second Media Mogul medal now, though I really want it if honestly, but happy holidays to you guys and keep well.
