Welcome Back!
Michael Shipp
Ladies and Gentlemen, please forgive the recent pause in Daily Poet publications, but there are things that I must do in the real world that cannot be put off...
...but now that we got that out of the way, lets jump straight into some of my favorites, Calvin and Hobbes!
Any of you ever done something like this? Hopefully not to bore you to death, but I'd like to share a poem I wrote in this issue. Any criticism will be appreciated.
Writer's Block
My pen was full of ink tonight.
My paper plainly sat,
But I had nothing I could write.
My one idea was that
If I were going to write tonight,
And put my thoughts down, clear,
I was the one to stay and fight
This one thing that I fear.
And that one thing is writer's block.
It ne'er leaves my mind at ease,
Put's in my mind, a mental lock.
It, only, holds the keys.
So I guess I'll sit here,
Pen in hand, and naught of which to think.
For you see, in chain of command,
My mind's the weakest link.
I wrote that several years ago when I was inspired by one of Robert Frost's poems. I hope you like it guys, and I'm sorry to cut it short, but goodnight everyone.

Thanks for sharing your poem. I know several poets, including myself, who have written about writer's block. Somehow, it seems appropriate as Poetry Month draws to a close.
good stuff keep it coming!
