Ginseng / Amarula

traditionally produced in China and the USA. Ginseng is one of the most lucrative crops in the world at 500$ per pound for some wild Ginseng to 50$.

Though one dont need to harvest it from the wild.

The reason is that it takes about 5 to 10 years to form a suitable root.

However from sites I have read up on one can actually make 90$ per pound from their seeds until their ready for harvest.

Although Ginseng is thought in Asian medicine to possess certain traits there is thought to be no health benefits to taking Ginseng . It also is not proven to stimulate or increase energy.

Yin/yang
According to traditional Chinese medicine, American ginseng promotes yin energy, cleans excess yang and calms the body. The reason it has been claimed that American ginseng promotes yin (shadow, cold, negative, female) while Asian ginseng promotes yang (sunshine, hot, positive, male) is that, according to traditional Chinese medicine, things living in cold places or northern side of mountains or southern side of rivers are strong in yang and the converse, so the two are balanced. Chinese/Korean ginseng grows in Manchuria and Korea, the coldest area known to many Koreans in ancient times. Thus, ginseng from there is supposed to be very yang.

Originally, American ginseng was imported into China via subtropical Guangzhou, the seaport next to Hong Kong, so Chinese doctors believed American ginseng must be good for yang, because it came from a hot area. They did not know, however, that American ginseng can only grow in temperate regions. Nonetheless, the root is legitimately classified as more yin because it generates fluids.

Wild Ginseng harvesting is prominently featured in teh program Appalachian Outlaws on Discovery.

Amarula/Marula/Mopanie Worms

Perhaps some of you know Amarula which is a cream liquor made from the Marula Fruit.

The Marula Fruit Tree is not commercially cultivated and harvested instead the entire Amarula brand and other products made from this product rely on people to go and pick up the fruit and sell it back to them.

This occurs in a 2 month period.

Mopane Worms

Well more like a caterpillar this worm is barbecued by people living in amonsgt Limpopo and is a major food source for them. As tourist you would also be probably be given an opportunity to indulge in this food stuff.

Some drunk and rude animals on Marula fruit

According to Wikipedia the video is fake and probably staged but still funny as shit. Anyway enjoy!
