Weekly Power Rankings S2 #3; Colonies Don't Last
Shoi12
Welcome to Season 2 of Weekly Power Rankings!
Anyway, this, for all you newer players, is the Weekly Power Rankings! It's where I dissect the week in review, and show who pulled off great feats and deals, and which countries didn't do as well as they'd hope to. It's not just a warfare analysis, though that's a big part of it, but there's also noting treaties and long-term security, not just short-term happiness.
Various house rules: don't be a prick. I won't judge your opinion if you don't force it upon me, so I ask the same of you.
And in regards to that green country north of Greece, when they do well it's Macedonia, and when they suck it's FYROM. Got it?
😛
Without further ado, let's get started!

WINNERS
1 (NR) Japan
TL
😉R: Liberating Japan from Portuguese occupation
CoT's had an off-week. With many other fronts failing in other areas, CoT's focus against the nation with the least TWO support, Portugal, may have been the safe move, but it was successful nonetheless. The weak Japanese had a dramatic vote awhile back, early in the CoTWO split, when the combination of PTOers and New Zealand's departure caused a vote to leave CoT themselves, a majority voting yes but not the two-thirds supermajority needed. Perhaps the future would have been different, but the CoT membership seems to have worked out. A historically weak nation, their entente with China and CoT support have helped out monstrously, first limiting the scale of occupation and then the successful RW campaign, kicking out their occupiers months before anyone else assumed possible. With China watching over the Japanese (hehe), Japan is actually in better shape than many CoT nations. How juicily ironic.
2 (NR) India
TL
😉R: Liberating a region from Croatia occupation, with Croatia too busy to intervene
After a long series of chaos and calamity, the Indians recently started an RW campaign, despite relations issues with its allies Macedonia and Bulgaria, as the two start improving relations with hated Croatia. Despite aiming attacks at Bosnia, the success actually came in
3 (NR) Poland
TL
😉R: Continued advancement into USA
The fighting has really picked up, both sides finally delivering on the great campaigns that many outsiders hoped to see. Despite a close defeat in Kentucky, the Polish army has been otherwise solid, capturing former capital California and Alabama, further stretching the Americans thin. Thanks to Spain's interference, a potential multi-front threat was quickly dissipated, and Serbia's advancement into Italy has prohibited the neighboring countries' possible intervening. In addition, the Polish have stopped an impressive wave of resistance, holding down the CoT forces fighting in Eastern Netherlands. Barring defeats in the resistance wars, it looks like smooth sailing for the Polish.
4 (NR) Hungary
TL
😉R: Leading an invasion into Russia alongside Ukraine and Belarus
It was inevitable that Hungary would attempt to rebuild its empire and get back at Russia out of spite, amongst everything else. Despite the ultimate demise of the last operation, it held for a couple of months, so the method was proper, at the least. So after the occupation of Ukraine to begin the operation, it was no surprise as to how Hungary would accomplish its mission. Freeing the one Russian Ukraine region and bringing Belarus along for the ride, the trio of nations have invaded the Russians with little issue. Now with a border with the United States, it seems as if Hungary is poised to make its next move into FER and Alaska, hoping to rebuild the glory it had once achieved. Or, perhaps, they're already satisfied with an empire in Asia. Whatever the case, it couldn't be going much better as of now.
5 (NR) Romania
TL
😉R: Airstriking into Bulgarian Norway, preparing to wipe both nations
Bulgaria's escape into Scandinavia was caused by a string of mishaps in Romania, twice proposing but not going through with Macedonia NEs, as well as the chaos going in the Balkans at the time. With Bulgaria making a nice string of victories in what was then Lithuanian territory, it seemed like CoT was making a great run, and TWO was making a great collapse. For Romania, this meant that they'd failed in their mission to hold down the Bulgarians. They fixed it quickly, though, as a quick airstrike found much less resistance than the Bulgarian one. With Lithuania defeated in the north, Romania came to do what Lithuania couldn't hold, and is on the verge of defeating a Bulgarian army that's already given up. Looks like Romania's fixed its mess.
Honorable Mentions: Serbia, Macedonia
LOSERS
Dishonorable Mentions: Croatia, Norway
B5 (NR) Portugal
TL
😉R: Portuguese colonies in Japan destroyed
Portugal's original logic for their Japanese colonies was relatively simple and sound in reasoning. After all, the Portuguese, at the time, were in a diplomatic crisis. Its great allies were in TWO, being good friends with Serbia, and had the NAP with Spain, so it made sense to improve relations with their eastern neighbor. After all, better than being permawiped. But with Spanish intentions to do just that, it made sense to run away to the area with the least possible issue and maximum gain should someone wipe them from Europe. Unfortunately for them, CoT finally turned its attention to the East, and in a close series of battles, they've been exterminated from the colonies. Though their relations with Spain should keep them from a permawipe in the near future, it's still a shame to lose the colonies and the effort it took to get there.
