The Sol Hypocrisy Part 1 (eJapan)

Day 689, 13:53 Published in Japan Japan by Myung Kei

The old saying "to have a brain-freeze" comes to mind when the eDiet and the eJapanese public are discussing the outcome of Sol and its future, well...besides "**** them!" and a couple other slogans that are rather unavailable to be brought to this paper's attention. In eJapan alone the thought of what to do with Sol is enough to bring about a brainfreeze on all sides, it is swamped with incompetent bureaucrats and ignorant "civil servants" (Part 2). The topic that started the discussion about leaving Sol itself expanded well over 10 pages of argument and preaching to a disgruntled choir. Many of the prominent members of the eDiet, such as Reiji, Sophia Forrester, Metic, etc. did not vote yes for a withdraw from Sol.
Why?
There are several questions that the eDiet and our congressman have yet to raise besides "should we stay or should we go?". For example:

Have we done everything in our power and have exhausted every last option?

If we review our troubles with Sol, its humble beginnings rest in the outbreak of a theocratic uprising in eSK, sweeping up a high concentration of "war feaver" in eJapan and aggrandizing our Righteous Nation Philosophy for the support of our eSK friends (me being one of them). Spade's government expressed the morality of our cause, the high tax rates and constant patronizing of our people was a huge shock to eJapan. Most alarming where the thoughts about "being next" in the line of destruction and war with the theocrats, creating even worse circumstances for a situation already in very complex matters.

To say it "point blank", the society of eJapan is built upon interaction with one another; exciting social events, IRC chats, casual discussions on the forums....a stark contrast to the module of eRepublik, which dictates by default that war is the primary focus. Yet this is of no problem to eJapan, who finds itself offering help to all parties, friends on both sides of an issue, and quite often our own interests were left to our friends and allies to the likes of PEACE.

This was one of our first chances at directing something that we had complete knowledge of and with a determined interest to see it through. In fact, it happened on eJapanese controlled territory so the situation we had complete control over.

But did we think it through when we approached Sol?

Right off of the start of the discussion(http://solalliance.comxa.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=81&start=10) we were plagued with unable to drill into Sol's head "we need you to stop this" (Part 2 will discuss this as well) and instead the delegates turned up their noses and surmised incorrectly that we were wining about this situation. Furthermore, they thought that this would spread to other nations in the region and that the theocrats would resort to invading eJapan. That was most definitely NOT our original intent, but unfortunately it was interpreted as such and continuously was viewed as such by the Sol elite. This part is not our fault, most assured the fault still rests with the Sol elite, who's ignorance and inability to comprehend anything that wasn't the drivel they spewed as true is disgusting.
It is what we did after which did not help: we wined.

We (I included, I did wine admittedly) did the one thing Sol thought at the start that we did. We just pouted the entire time as Resolution O1001 (the 'compromise solution') was being discussed and drafted. Sol treated us like little children, because we ACTED LIKE LITTLE CHILDREN, and many in the eDiet are still doing the same thing: wining about how Sol was not able to help. There were things we could have done, but we were so busy in the forums screaming our heads off about "how dare they!!!!" that we forgot that there were several options at han😛

===1.) Travel to the individual countries of Sol and make our case===

If we could not make our voice heard at the Sol Headquarters, why not just travel to each individual nation, best diplomats in hand, and attempt to strike out potential voters and supporters of a compromise solution? Granted, this was attempted towards the very end of our efforts, but this was not attempted at maximum efficiency. Again, most of our diplomats and congressman sulked around the General Forums, talking about the possibility to act against Sol, but to no general consensus.

===2.) Explain to Sol that eJapan would refuse to sign ANY resolution under previously stated arguments===

Actually, this is one option that eJapan perfected beautifully....indeed, we even downright ignored the vote on the resolution as it passed through the Sol Security Counsel. Perhaps we did this too well, our in-game ignore was received as an insult by the Sol member nations as willing to not cooperate at all. Our lack of wining in this situation cost us exorbitantly and this is one of the few times that we lacked enough voice in the matter to object.

===3.) Object under grounds of violatory law of the charter===

Personally, this would have been one of my favorite options had our delegates as well as our congressman brought up this matter before the eDiet, and our diplomatic savvy would have been at its finest. This treaty would have violated several parts of the charter, including all the areas where the phrase "peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific" was used. Including articles 2.5 & 2.6, which prohibit acting in agreement with nations that go against the above phrase. If we had a good team of lawyers, this could have been made as an international victory for eJapan and seen as a humiliation of Sol's own founders.

But once again, this picture comes to min😛

Were all of our actions (or inaction) within our control?

There were some instances in which no, we were not the ones with the powers of the universe in our hands. Most especially was the case with Minamoto, where our president was unable to sadly vote "Nay" on the resolution at hand. Also, real life events made some more prominent figures and Sol diplomats unable to arrive in time to plead their case. HOWEVER, the one area that continues to portray eJapan as the "sol" victim and the victim alone is the eDiet, where our congressman are victims of themselves when it came to taking initiative. Yet it is clear that there was initiative to motion to leave Sol, why wasn't the same initiative acted in how to deal with the problem at hand?

eJapan and Spade's government were indeed victims of an incompetent bureaucracy but more could have been done instead of just siting around sulking.

So....what do we do now?

Obviously, question one's answer is still NO, so there is still things that can be done by everyone as a whole:

1) Keep voting in Sol Secuirty Counsel and be more active- eJapan's most powerful voice in preventing a TNoSK recognition by Sol its its vote in the Security Counsel, withdrawing said vote by leaving would be foolish in such a time of crisis. We need more active people on Sol's forum other than Reiji, who can only do so much to state OUR case towards Sol and its leadership.
Apparently to a select few in the Sol leadership, us staying is a curse upon them, and what better way to inflict more damage then by staying and continuing to vote?

2) Have more active diplomats in the Sol member nations- This is one area in which eJapan is currently lacking in. Although Oraizan can do a brilliant job as president when negotiating on her own, again, we can only do so much. Our last attempts at persuading against the Theocrats joining the wargames in FRoSEA and the ePhilippines had little impact due to limited contact, but still communication proves to be an indispensable weapon if we are to win this war of diplomacy.

3) Slow down and talk everything out- Our eDiet needs to consider the consequences of us leaving from Sol and also tempting ruining relations first before discovering what will happen later. Simply complaining about being the innocent victim and then having a motion to directly withdraw on a surprise notice solves nothing and is leaving many to simply scratch their heads in confusion.

We should never "move on" from what Sol has done to eJapan or what the Theocrats have done to Spade's eSK'ers. But keeping in this mind, we should move forward considering all the options FIRST, work to the very end, to not give up before the end is over, before resorting to the last option.

(I was not paid to write this article as a few might believe, nor am I a person who generally thinks that eJapan is a "player hater", nor am I the type of person who huggles up against Sol's every move. This article is just to review the actions of eJapantowards Sol up to the point of this vote taking place in the eDiet today (http://nipponblog.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=914)
