The Money is in the Raw
olivermellors
There will not be anything new here for long time players interested in the economic module. It may of some interest to newer players’ planning. And feedback will be of use to me in better understanding the game.
The calculation of pay-back times for investment is popular. It tends to obscure that the money is in the raw. Using employees to turn raw into a finished product rarely adds value these days. Buying raw on the market in order to turn it into tanks for resale, on market, seems like a money losing proposition. Using black market raw, bought for a bit less, is break even at best. Experience may vary depending on ability to find off market buyers and suppliers but broadly speaking one doesn’t make money your own plant to process someone else’s raw.
The money is in the raw: the raw produced at no cost by working as manager (WAM). Long term economic players who don’t buy gold can reasonably be expected to be producing the equivalent of 50 rubber plantations worth of raw daily: let us say 20,000 units. At market price of 4 cents that is a cash inflow of 800 dollars or 3.5 gold. That makes you self sufficient.
For such a player the issue is how much can I get for my raw. If the market is trading briskly, you get the market price. If there is long delay in clearing inventory, your storage gets filled up. Once storage is filled, you can’t produce more raw and that means you lose the value of the day’s production. That can’t be permitted to happen. In order to ensure that the day’s production is not halted you may choose to buy extra storage. Keeping large inventories of raw, however, exposes you to the risk of falling prices. You may therefore choose to sell raw on the black market at a half cent discount or to immediately clear inventory by offering it for sale on the market for a penny less (you will find eager buyers). Finally, if you have a weapons factory, you may choose to convert the raw into weapons. Manufacturing weapons will “compress” the raw into a little box called a “tank” which is easy to sell. When you sell tanks you won’t get the full value of your raw but you have cleared some storage space.
The new player who produces very little raw material should also ask “how much am I getting for my raw”. He will find reason to be happy. The new player who produces very little raw, has very little storage and a low q weapons factory will find that he is getting about 5 cents/raw when he works as manager. That is good news.
Now if I could figure out why any human being buys raw from the market ….. that is a puzzle to me.

wow, this is far from my eReality as a non-gold buyer 😞
I buy frm every day cos I need them. I sell a few excess wrm every day.
I am nowhere near self-sufficient.
So to answer your final question - me 🙂
thats bull q1 makes you more money than the raw I alrdy figured it out tyvm
look at the second last paragraph of the article: you can indeed make a bit of money with WAM, though not with employees.
that is for weapons
why buy raws from the market? why sell raws in the market?
no tax on raws! no risk in the market! no waiting or relying on the other player to do anything(this only applies to buyers)!
oh so that aint to big a deal anyways!
i was lvl 30 before I tried the black market and before i figured out how to use it. but usually they are high volume. and the black market has a lot of added risk. for a sayings of 15% but a risk increase of 0 risk to maybe 25% complete loss. so it is about break even. if you get scammed once on the black market it would have been the same as taking the less profit slowly in the regular market. more easy to account for. most people do not hold an account for potential losses. so a huge loss is worse than an infinite sum of small losses.
I only use the market because new players only use the market. and we need the new players who consume more than they produce to play the game! if they did not then we could not make a lot of profit. so we need to keep the new players happy to make a profit! that's one reason why we have taxes. hm,
what level min would someone need to be to get 50 rubber plantaions? each is 35 gold so total 1750 gold. and that would be 437500 USD. and the rubber plantation makes 10 dollars per 2 exp at .03 raw price. so a person at 87500 experience can be self sufficient. that is almost twice the experience i have! i think that would be a very experienced player to be self sufficient 🙂
1. selling weapons raw on the market makes sesnse and is straightforward. Buying raw to turn into weapons not so much. Generally you can buy the tanks already made for less. Experiences vary.
2. It is important for new players to know that there was a time when you could make a lot of money in this game. It was possible to earn enough to buy a lot of raw factories. I don't see how a non-gold buyer can do that these days. Players who are self sufficient weren't better players than the present newbs, we just played when there was opportunity.
3. Who buys weapons raw, and for what purpose isn't a complete mystery though it is perplexing. That is the area in which I need education.
ohh. i bought 300000 raw weps at .03 and sole them at .04. and when they go to .4 after a while wep prices rise so i can then use my factories for what ever does not sell quick enough and it is profitable because i bought at .03. so only people with massive amounts of storage can really buy raw weps and make significant amount of money. or people who can hold the needed raws for weeks.
yes, you make my point: buying raw cheap to then sell the same raw for a penny more makes sense. It follows the logic of "the money is in the raw" and "how much can I get for my raw". Turning it into tanks would have been unwise. You also highlight the value of storage and liquidity. Finally you highlight the downside hedge.
ohh see, you got it! when we started we made money! why? see in order to profit you need people consuming the extra. when you started there was a lot of new players building factories. now we have too many factories. i think we need a huge population growth. like 20% a month to maintain a good profit margin. when there are lots of low level players lots of people work and buy goods. so hireing workers maks money because everyone needs to work to make money. and will work for anything. and have to buy the produced materials. however now a good majortiy of players only sell their extra and produce enough weps that they do not need to buy more. if plato started everyone with nothing! it would be much more beneficial to the prices. a new player gets 5 gold every 30 days for working. which is 100usd a day. and if there were enough workers and not enough jobs wage would drop but then the workers still make the majority of the money with the hard worker medal so they would still buy the same amount. thus increasing the profits for the factory owners. but i do not think there is any way to get he population to grow 20% a month. that would be 2000 new active players a month in the usa.
wait let me fix that we need the population to grow faster than the return on factories! current factory return is about a year. so we need to double the population every year. to maintain prices. but need to triple the population if we want prices to go up
Olivermellors each player has his type of game, some players prefer the military module others like me the economic module in the past I put more than 1.5b raws per day in the market and made money, weapons production gives money (q6 or q7) but is very unstable many players buy or make weapons for example q7 at 7.00 with the objective of sell them at 7:50 for example when the price goes down and they go into panic then they sell that weapons lower make them losing money.
I prefer to leave it in stock and sell some time later, what many players do not realize is that investing in the game even losing money in the future they can make more profit.
it just depends on each player, and the way of each one to analyze the changes in the game the same principle applies in forex for example, today the US dollar is falling and the euro is rising tomorrow may be the opposite.
as I said it just depends on each player to decide how to evolve and take advantage of options they have.

How do I buy something in the black market? 🙁
well if you just produce weaponraw (WRM) you will sell it on market now at 0.05cc for 0.04cc to get it out of your storage.
if you produce raw and for example q7weapons you need 200raw (=worth altogether 8.0cc if the other choice would be to sell for 0.04cc). but a weapon can be sold for 10cc. and with this you can at least get the full 0.05cc/WRM if you sell it as q7weapon.
+ how does black market of raw function (donation is not possible)?
i put it on market cheap and you buy in that instant? very risky stuff
i think most MUs are selfsupply communes
1. the soldiers work and with the workhours weapons will be produced to get higher damage for the MU
2. many MUs might not have enough raw-companies/or just need the workhours to produce the weapons 3. so they have to buy more raw from market
=> so if you get Missions and other events more MUmember will activly participate and use the self-supply-work-in-the-MU-mines-system + bigshots will buy hundreds of energybars and stuff so they need thousands of q7weapons
and some thousand q7weapons mean 100thousands more raw needed
and as i said self supply communes work to produce the weapons themselfes but buy raw from market and even more when they have to supply crazyguys
even if you have MU with q5raw and want to provide raw in the MU
1. if you have q5raw one employee will produce only 500raw per day with full boni - thats not even enough for 3 q7weapons BUT you will need ~7 to 15 q7weapons per day if you are more or less active
to get the fullboni 20weapons he produces in one day he would have to work 8days in raw mines first
= 20weapons for 9days work
= 2 and some weapons per day
that is not even enough to get the DO kills
2. you would need many raw-companies because q5 has only 4employees/day
=> providing the raw of the weapons from the self-supply-mines of the MU does not seem to be very effective
= members will send money to the MU so it will buy the needed raw for their weapons
already got told how blackmarket on raw works (thanks)
