Running for re-Election

Day 2,526, 19:13 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Madelina de Melrose

Why should I be allowed to represent you again in Congress?

First, I’ve been in TUP since I started playing eRep, and was instrumental in getting TUP back on track after PTOs and bad leaders. Did I wave a magic wand and all was perfect? I wish! I’d love a magic wand and I’d love TUP to be perfect, but the first is highly unlikely to happen, while the second is going to take a long time and hard work. TUP didn’t become a mess in a day, and it won’t be restored in a day.

Second, I’ve been privileged to represent you in Congress this past term. I’m one of the few who tries to keep discussions on track and invective at a minimum. Unfortunately I can’t say that all those in Congress are there for the good of the eUK, but I can assure you that every TUP Congressperson has behaved impeccably and has done their best to achieve policies that will help the eUK. I regret to say that there are not enough of us to silence those who want to ensure failure, but we keep trying to make things work.

When I started playing eRep, I was a 2-clicker. Nobody bothered to help the new players, and there was no way to learn more so we could make the game enjoyable. I quit for a while, then came back and got on my soapbox. Eventually I ended up helping with the NHS (of which I am a co-Director) and started eBrit University, a mentorship/tutorial programme for new eUKers (of which I am Chancellor). I had no intention up front of getting into politics, but seeing the devastation caused by one or two bad characters, I made the plunge and don’t regret it for a second.
