New Forums!
Claire Louise
Aaaaaahreet, Aus!!!
Well, as you've seen from the title...yes, there are new forums on their way. After XG announced that the current forums were closing, I decided we needed a new one. The vast majority of the work is done, just a few touch ups to do now and we're sorted.
I think most people view me as "anti-forum". It's a tricky subject. Forums are a great place to hold debates, to archive information which is available at any point and to organise. The issue I have always had with forums (even back in the eUK) is the red tape. I hate red tape. I hate that in the past Australia has lost out on the opportunity to airstrike a nation under a PTO, because we had to have a debate on it, and then a vote on it, and then the in-game vote on it, which is the only thing that matters. There's nothing wrong with debate, obviously, but to waste so much time on something that needed an answer within a short period of time was just...ugh. Anyway...I'm rambling.
I guess I'll just list a few fairly important things about the forum:
- It's totally free. Totally. No fee's, no catches, no nothing. Free. Which is great, because it means money can't talk.
- It's open to everyone. Even you. Maybe. No, no, you can join. On second thoughts...no, you're fine, sign up, it's fine.
- Moderators will be elected every two - three months. Yes, elected. As in, the community will pick their mods. Speaking of which, I'll need people to volunteer for mods at some point, but yknow, we've got time, and this is somewhat of a rushed article. So we'll sort all of that in the next one.
What else?
- Ooh, Hugh designed it, so, yknow, it's dead sexy and snazzy and that. Yeah, I'm losing it slightly.
- Any party/military unit wanting their own section can have one, all you gotta do is ask, and whoever is PP or Commander for that month will be mod of their section.
- Oh, and no tickets will need submitting in order for access to be given to things like party forums. You'll auto get them once elections are over. Likewise for Congress and Cabinet.
I'm out of things to say. There was so much more. Anyway, as I said, a better, more detailed article will be released at some point next week.
Should we do a sneak peek?
Yeah, why not!
Oooooooh
Aaaaaahhhhh

Alright, that's enough for now. More info and stuff next week

About bloody time new forums were had.
When is the actual expected opening?
"Oh, and no tickets will need submitting in order for access to be given to things like party forums. You'll auto get them once elections are over. Likewise for Congress and Cabinet."
I assume there would still be a ticketing system/link to pm Mod if there is an oversight of some type that caused someone to not get access where they expected? Only assuming that the access is given via someone manually checks over PP's and MU's Captaina etc for the month then initiates the process of giving someone access they require. If it is manual, we are all human and makes some mistakes or oversights
Yes, I shall field this Claire if I may...
We mean that ticketing mods etc is still an option for users but mod rights will be auto done after PP, CP elections etc. So if say ADP had a section, well the admin would make the PP and vPP mods of that party section on the 16th, if one of those people wasn't registered on the forums then the admin would approach the PP to see which other party officer they wanted as mod. Common sense really and stops abuse or lazy admins.
Take the current forums, the admin refuses to give up mod access of her party despite losing the PP elections because she says the current PP was inactive and should submit a ticket, yet still kept a second inactive mod in that section who left the game...see the abuse there?
Why should you have to submit a ticket each time? Should the CP have to submit a ticket each 6th of the month? No, why? Because he is CP and the game officially calls him CP. So why should party elections be different? A good admin would automatically set permissions after each election in this game.
Tickets are used as an excuse for abuse and lazy admins....prove me wrong.
I'm more thinking along the lines of mistakes happen, admins think they ticked the box and accepted a memeber as the PP of a party but in actual fact they accidentally ticked an incorrect box and never gave access. In a rushed moment of RL they may not always double check that the access has gone through which leads to errors in a manual system.
If there is a secondary system such as a ticketing admins still in place for human errors this is good thing as it may stop immediate complaints for lack of access given.
Also when is the opening date? 😛
6th mate 😉
With regards to permissions and such, that is down to PP's and officers of that party. The guy/gal wanting access to the party posts up they want access and then its down to the party mods to give it to them....no one else. Of course if the person didnt get access accidently then yeah they can submit a ticket and the admin will approach the party mods and find out whats happening etc. If those officers who are mods are no longer officers
But Claire has run a few forums before, one that had over 500 regular members and visitors and was growing very fast and not once did she make an error...trust me, she knows her stuff. As for me? I'm having my admin rights bunked down on the 5th because I'm just helping design at the minute 😛
It cut my reply...
'' If those officers who are mods are no longer officers then on the 16th mod rights will be taken away and given to whoever the new officers are''
Thats what should have been included.
Your putting too much work in a dead country. Soon just Clair and Huge will run everything with no people to run lol.
Well good luck with it all.
