Ο καθηγητής της Αρχαίας Ιστορίας στο πανεπιστήμιο της Οξφόρδης Robin Lane Fox έγινε περισσότερο γνωστός στην Ελλάδα όταν τον περασμένο Απρίλιο, στη διάρκεια των εγκαινίων της έκθεσης «ΑΠΟ ΤΟΝ ΗΡΑΚΛΗ ΣΤΟΝ ΜΕΓΑ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟ», στον Μουσείο Ασμόλιαν της Οξφόρδης, είχε κάνει δηλώσεις για την ελληνικότητα της Μακεδονίας οι οποίες έκαναν εντύπωση. Η φράση του που έχει ευρύτατα κυκλοφορήσει είναι:

«Οι Μακεδόνες ήταν ένα ελληνόφωνο βασίλειο στη βόρεια Ελλάδα και όσοι Σκοπιανοί υποστηρίζουν ότι εκεί βρίσκεται η Μακεδονία επιδεικνύουν άγνοια και η θέση τους είναι εξωφρενική. Είναι σαν να λένε ότι η Οξφόρδη βρίσκεται στη Λευκορωσία».



One of the most eminent scholars in ancient Macedonian History, Professor Robin Lane Fox, states the historical truth and stands against the crime that is happening against Greek history by blasting FYROM’s Propaganda.

Professor Fox state😛 “There is a message that is historical and still politically has to be said…. Macedonia is a Greek-Speaking kingdom in Northern Greece, populated by people using Greek names, Greek months and worshiping Greek Gods. Those who live in Skopje, and say that is Macedon and Alexander’s home, are as ignorant and outrageous as if someone was to say that Oxford University was really in Belarus and Oxford was Minsk.

That statement was made on the occasion of the groundbreaking exhibition ‘Heracles to Alexander the Great’ which was held at the Ashmolean Museum of the Oxford University in the U.K. The exhibition, showed more than 500 extraordinary objects, most of which went on display for the first time anywhere in the world. These recent finds were discovered in the royal burial tombs and the palace at Aegae, the ancient capital of Macedon. They rewrite the history of early Greece and tell the story of the royal court and the kings and queens of Macedon, descendants of Heracles whose rule culminated in the empire of Alexander the Great.
