Looks can be Deceiving

Day 674, 08:42 Published in Ireland Ireland by John Gormley

We all understand that looks can be deceiving. And that is the basis on which I ask you to vote for me in tomorrow's Congress elections. I'll explain that in a moment but firstly I wish to say a few things about myself.

I'm John Gormley. I'm running in the Southeast region and I'm a member of the Irish Freedom Party.
I've been in e-Republik since last March. I started off in Ireland and you may be amazed to read that I've only left the nation once ever but that simply exemplifies the extraordinary dedication I have to eIreland already. I have had 3 Hard Worker medals, 2 Super Soldier and I was a Congressman once before. I am also a captain and I have made 122 friends which makes me very well connected.

But now I feel I need to explain that first paragraph. You see, I've based my citizen entirely on John Gormley in RL; however I am nothing like him. In fact, I- like alot of people currently- have taken a huge dislike to the man for his role in an abysmal performance in Government. So, please do not presume when you're voting that I'm anything like Gormley. To the contrary, I'm very different and that's good enough reason to vote for me!

Seriously though, I do actually have a concrete manifesto and I will just briefly outline below my position on some important issues facing people of the Southeast.
Hospitals:There currently is only a Q2 hospital in the Southeast. I believe high quality hospitals are invaluable resources and I will actively campaign to ensure the next one to be placed in Ireland, whenever that is, will be placed in the Southeast.
Economy:I am a strong supporter of open market policy. I feel too much Government intervention can be extremely harmful to the economy. I will make every effort to support business activity and to help it prosper.
Health:Health of new citizens particularly is of utmost importance. We need to help them to manage their health. If we don't they will do badly in this game, will get disillusioned and will just give up. That would be a terrible scenario.
Military:I feel neutrality has been our best option for a long time and I think there is no need to change that now. However, I worry that at some stage in the future circumstances might force us to consider joining an alliance. I believe we need more discussion on whether or not we need to be in an alliance.
War Games:These are undoubtedly good for the economy and I hope they will continue long into the future. I must say though that it seems to me that people think that War Games are entirely win-win. In my opinion, there are some drawbacks to War Games that have never really been brought to light. I would like War Games to be discussed more on the forums.
Foreign Affairs:This is a simple one: where would we be without our friends. Having good relations with other nations is crucial to the survival of eIreland. Just look at the assistance eUK gave us recently as an example of the importance of foreign relations.

Well, that's about it. I just want to finally make some pledges to you. If I'm electe😛
1)I will be online everyday, on the official site, the forums and IRC.
2)I will get involved in all law-making. I will vote on and discuss all laws and even propose my own where appropriate.
3)I will be available for contact to all my constituents if they want an issue to be brought before Congress.
4)I will be fully dedicated to the job and I will see out the full term no matter what the circumstances

So, when you go to vote on the 25th., remember to vote John Gormley of the IFP for a better e-Ireland.
Thanks for reading and good luck to other candidates in the election.

John Gormley
Congress Candidate for the Southeast of Ireland
