If you are ever in the north of France I advise to check out the war graves. It's moving to see just the amount of graves there are. Definitely go to Thiepval
Been to many of the battlefields and drove all though France, it's very sad.

Not just our troops Harry, a lot of Commonwealth boys died for the Old Country too.
Fighting for the Empire made many proud who never even been to Britain they was fighting for something.
Added all who served now.
Mind boggling that 19000 people died in one day. Ghastly.
57,000 casualties on that day
RIP
I honoured the 2 mins silence this morning. What a waste of life that battle was.The british high command had a lot to answer for in those days. The guys were ordered over the top and to add insult to injury were ordered to walk to the german lines.WALK FFS.
In all 1 million lives were lost.Tragic beyond belief
I wish i could vote this 1 million times
Watching the remembrance last night had me in tears a whole generation lost.
One of many reasons why we cannot let germany rule europe
Our men and women will have died in vane

Vast numbers of Anzac troops died at Gallipoli. Was a good idea but Ataturk guessed they were coming.
Generals just treated guys like pawns, no respect for human lives.
Rip
Thanks for doing this Harry. Was at Thepival today. Was a moving service
how comes?
I have a relative that died on the 1st day of the Somme and was lucky enough to get tickets
