Dear fellow eDutch citizens,

I’ve done a little bit of a research via Facebook on Joint Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (JISR), my previous article was Military Intelligence Agency from 06.11.2015 and now, encouraged by the Monthly Media Contest I’m launching a new article combining RL and eRep.

Intro

Information is collected on the battlefield through systematic observation by deployed soldiers and a variety of electronic sensors. Surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance are methods of obtaining this information. The information is then passed to intelligence personnel for analysis, and then to the commander and his staff for the formulation of battle plans.

Intelligence is processed information that is relevant and contributes to an understanding of the ground, and of enemy dispositions and intents.





01 MU J-2 Intelligence-reconnaissance

Joint Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (JISR) is vital for all military operations. It provides information and intelligence to decision-makers and action-takers, helping them make informed, timely and accurate decisions.

While surveillance and reconnaissance can answer the questions “what,” “when” and “where”, the combined elements from various intelligence sources and disciplines provide the answers to “how” and “why”. When all of this is combined, you create Joint ISR.
