This may come off as sour grapes as I ran against Molly Jo for the Speaker role and while I would like to imagine my six years playing this game and 32 congress medals might of warranted a closer race I'm at peace with the fact only 10 people voted and I got 3 (yay)
What I'm slightly pissed about is the fact Molly Jo has no idea what the Speaker role is and what is required, I doubt she has even read the CRoO....Congressional Rules of Order so Im not sure why she ran

If the last few days of 4 or 5 work tax motions in game is any indication of how debate in a public forum is needed then I dont know what is. Debate Madam Speaker is what takes place prior to a vote http://ecan.forumotion.com/t753-congressional-vote-on-taxes Not an argument in a PM which is where congressional business and communication with the Executive has been taking place for the last few weeks but in an open forum where the public can see, critique and write about.
A deputy Speaker has still not been chosen so it makes it kinda hard to put a motion on non confidence in the Speaker forward
psst.... Madam Speaker you have to choose a deputy, you have to have at least 24 hours of debate before a vote, you have to punish someone for a rogue proposal and you cant put forth a motion in a Private Message.
The Speaker has to be the Champion of Congressional transparency and the Speakers role this month should of been to try and get most if not all on congress back to the forums if thats even possible. Then a debate could of been started about how to handle political party's that shun a public forum for debate such as taking over those party's as I believe that lethargic party's that elect congressmen that have no desire to serve in that role are

Even in a time of war, even when wiped, even if every large country in this game has their sites set on us a lethargic and uninterested body of law makers is the most dangerous enemy eCanada can get. Without debate, without political backstabbing and political coalitions that achieve certain aspirations there is no fuel for the fire, nothing to excite and captivate the populace and nothing for congress wannabee's to aspire to.
madam Speaker find out what your job is and do it, please.
If your in Congress the please take part in the forum
http://ecan.forumotion.com there is a reason why the good times of eCanada included an active forum
If your a party president please only put active people forward for congress seats and promote forum activity or leave your position
If your a person that would like to lead an active party please take over one of the top 5 party's, stop making new party's as it dilutes the pool

We cannot even reach a quorum on anything making it truly pointless.
If people still put motions forward and congress is notified outside of the game
If votes still happen and congress is notified outside of the game
If debate only happens on the forums and congress is notified outside the game
then maybe day by day, week by week congress will come crawling slowly back to the forums as old or new members
but when your congressional leader either shuns the forums on purpose or is ignorant to a process that has been a mainstay for several years then each of us will give it up as well

Endorsed because of the desire for forum. I personally think the forum is dead and we are beginning to reap the harvest. Maybe all this can be reversed but I am doubtful. There are still a few clinging on to a community but it's getting even more divided. Soon everyone will be the only person in their parties chat. I supposed it's easier to get people to agree with you when you're the only one in the room. lol

The issues should have been brought up in private respectfully, but instead crisfire has been condescending, and rude, and now he takes it public because he lacks maturity and is trying to make an example of me. Well ask him this, where was this effort of his the first ten days of congress term before DMV appointed him Liaison. He doesn't mention his own failures in here at all.
I was deputy speaker and until theres a speaker theres not much anyone can do.
Figure out the job you put yourself forward for and start doing it

you cant do anything without a speaker and without me doing something about it....like starting the speaker vote we probably still wouldnt have one, not that it makes much difference with the one we have now

I think some leadership roles aren't learned by studying a rulebook. Even if the CRoO is well thought out set of guidelines for governing Congress, if it's under-used/inactive then potentially new Speakers are not learning how to do the job when their time comes. Making the Mollies out there better at their job is long-term community effort and eCanada is fortunate to have e a Congressional Drill Sergeant like crisfire.
It's too bad the game itself isn't enough to inspire more debate. Shaming people into doing it may only go so far, too. I dunno...make a fun Congress contest or two? : /
If there is any hope for congress and the forums, we need a strong and experienced Speaker. I think this is an issue of no one being around to show a new Speaker the ropes.

Are you getting upset because you didn't get elected, didn't get ask to fill a certain role or missed out on a medal? Then it's time to turn your PC off, grow a set and go outside to experience the real world.
