Into The Circle

Day 1,987, 13:36 Published in Ireland USA by Raven Anarcho

CoT gains another member as two old enemies fight on. This will be the 2nd issue to mention a few experienced congress members in the eworld.

AN OLD FEUD

The war between Romania and Bulgaria continues to rage on. Overall, Bulgaria has been dominating so far, keeping Romania on the defensive. The war started shortly after Romania signed an MPP with Serbia. Recently, Romania has interestingly signed an MPP with Greece, a major enemy of Bulgaria. The nation now holds EDEN, CUA, and TWO MPPs but is still slowly folding to Bulgaria.

INTO THE CIRCLE

After months of talking, Russia has finally become a trial member of CoT. Some thought Russia would have a change of heart regarding joining, after CoT chose to stay neutral when Poland attacked Russia not long ago. Regardless, the nation is now in trial membership. Their closest friend of late, Germany, is also trying to join. As of now, Russia remains on good terms with Asgard, who has had issues with CoT since Lithuania and Latvia's joint strike against the smaller alliance.

ADVICE FROM EXPERIENCE II

The most experienced congress members in Ireland and Australia were asked questions regarding their experiences in the Dail (IRE) and Senate (AUS):

John Gormley - Ireland - 23 Terms

Why I Choose to Run:
I got a real buzz from getting elected the first 4-5 times. And I loved being involved in the discussions at that time. I usually accept people's cynicism towards Congress - it's certainly not as important as CP and has so many problems - but I still have a bit of an affection for it. The last several times I ran, I'd admit I was just going through the motions. Therefore, I haven't run for the last few months (also because I'm not very active right now).

Favorite Moment in Congress:
Yeah, probably getting elected the first time. I was only in the game a pretty short time and had not built up any kind of prominence in eIrish society. It was a shot in the dark really, but I got lucky to pick up about 5 votes and that was enough to get elected. I was genuinely really delighted.

Advice for New Congress:
A big mistake that is often made by new Congress members is proposing new laws by accident. If you're on the Country Admin page, make sure to only propose a new law if it's what the country needs

Binda33 - Australia - 31 Terms

Why I Choose to Run:
For me, this game is quite lame if you are not involved in every level there is to experience, particularly the political and military modules. It helps to be involved in the forum and IRC too, as this is where the real involvement happens, for the most part.

Congress is a great area to be involved in here in eAus. We call it Senate here. It is great to be involved in Senate discussions, making proposals and engaging with our Cabinet to help shape how this game effects us.

Lately its become a lot more serious, which is a shame. Our neighbours are taking away a lot of the enjoyment some of us once had in eRep by making sure we have little to no Senate/Congress each month. This makes it harder to retain players here as well. I tend to miss some of the old old days where no term was complete without the obligatory (and usually in jest) Impeachment proposal.

Favorite Moment in Congress:
The nearest I could come up with would be when we once had a CP who thought to bully the Congress into doing what we wanted and we stood up to him as a whole and voted the way we pleased anyway. It was the first and last time a CP thought to manipulate our Senate for his own ends.

Advice for New Congress:
I suggest to get active in your Country's national forums and get onto IRC as well. This helps to keep in touch with the community, and let's face it, without the community eRep would truly suck as a game. In a small Nation, community is the only thing worth playing for, in my opinion.

MY CURRENT MISSION

I am serving another congressional term this month, and will head the ambassador program and continue working with the MoI in most proposed cabinets next term. I have fought in Australia, Argentina, Ireland, and a couple resistances against Serbia lately. Now I I plan to focus entirely on keeping the UK out of Dublin.
