The national ingame forum is in my opinion one of the fundamental thing that missing.
The game-forum that was here in-game was nice per se, tho I think I understand the issue about legal obligations and/or so in connection with the issue about "mods". So especially in non-game languages they wouldn't even really know what is written ... Of course, assuming they would have funds available, they could hire in other countries mods and other staff, tho I think that would require office in each of these countries, lawyer, ...
As for if it were community-based, similar problems with addition thereto regarding unpaid technically labour as well regarding "forum owner issues" especially when it comes to so much "activity" that such owner may want to profitise on it as can and before community really realizes former "owner" is gone, and other issues.
Yeah, I remember these chats but I think they weren't perfect as the chat log doesn't save. I think the concept of forum is better because you don't need to be online all the time and you can read all news in one.
I remember that in-game sort of irc chat as well, tho what I didn't like about it was the not hard but also not really easy access and probably also rather slow for many not sitting on broadband connections at newish computers with everything optimalised or so. Spam or sort of abuse probably was an issue to many too. Was all in all neat tho.
While not against forum/s, or how it should be called in proper terminology, per se, it is more sort of as the articles section we are currently using anyhow. Myself, what i was on about is sort of real time chat which is usually "light" as in that there are no walls of text and so. E.g. in SWG, liked that when you went to a location there to have local chat. True tho that the chat-feeds on the homepage don't update and that it needs refreshing, unlike used to from other services.
