Ieftin sau scump / Cheap or expensive

Un om merge cu băiatul său la târg să cumpere un bou.
Găsesc acolo unul cu 50 de galbeni, dar nu îl cumpără.
Băiatul întreabă de ce, iar omul răspunde că era scump.

Peste o lună merg iarăși și găsesc altul cu 200 de galbeni.
Pe acesta îl cumpără, iar pe drum întreabă copilul de ce l-au cumpărat.
Bărbatul răspunde: pentru că era ieftin.

Copilul nu înțelege și întreabă iarăși:
cum cu 50 de galbeni e scump, iar cu 200 de galbeni e ieftin?
Iar tatăl său îi răspunde:
primul era scump cu 50 de galbeni, pentru că nu-i aveam;
iar al doilea e ieftin cu 200 pentru că-i aveam.

A man goes with his son to the fair to buy an ox.
There they found one with 50 gold coins, but have'nt bought it.
The boy asks why, and the man replied that it was expensive.

Over a month go againand find another for 200 gold coins.
On it they buy, and the way the child asks why they bought.
The man answers: because it was cheaper.

The child does not understand and asks again:
How come that with 50 gold coins is expensive, and with 200 gold coins cheap?
And his father replie😛
First was expensive for 50 gold coins, because I had not;
and the second is cheaper with 200 because I had it.
