Get Involved - eAustralia Ambassador Program

Day 2,339, 23:48 Published in Australia Australia by Mongoosier

Hello everyone!

A quick intro first – I’m Mongoosier, I first joined eAussie very briefly waaaaaaay back in 2008 but have only been active (and I use the term very loosely) for the past couple of months.

I’ve been looking for ways to get more involved and as a result am now proudly the (or a, I can’t actually remember if there’s more of us) Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and as such have been asked to take a look at the Ambassador Program and get it back on track.

So, there’s really two parts to this I guess – firstly, trying to get a handle on the current situation (as the info I have is a little bit out of date) and then recruiting to bring in the next wave of Ambassadors into the game.

Just what the heck is going on?

So, could anyone who is currently acting as an Ambassador to any country(ies) drop me a PM in game and let me know what they are up to so I can collate this.
Simple.

Hey, this sounds fun – how do I get involved?

Well, you’re absolutely right – it is fun! And we desperately need more people to get out into the eWorld and make friends with other nations. We all know the situation we are in right now and the only way out of that is going to be through strengthening ties with our countries and having strong allies.
There’s been some good progress on this in recent weeks but we need to keep pushing it.

Absolutely no experience is necessary – there are some simple guidelines, and I’ll provide some links later, but beyond that it’s just getting yourself out and about and talking to people.

So, if you are wondering how you can make a contribution to eAustralia but aren’t sure where to begin, then this is for you!

Drop me a PM and let me know you’re interested and we can get you started – if you have a specific country in mind or speak a language other than English then let me know that too.

But what the &$#* do I do??

I’m really glad you asked that!

As I say, it’s basically about making friends with people in other countries.

Not so hard right?

There’s plenty of detail here and indeed here (assuming I can make links work properly…) – but if you can’t be bothered to click a link the basics are:

1. Go and visit the forum for you new country and set up an Embassy there
2. Check out whether they have an Ambassador to Australia already – if not, their Minister of Foreign Affairs will be the best person to talk to initially
3. Keep them up to date with general info from Australia that might be relevant to them – and share any news from their side with us. Publish articles in our press from time to time to keep your fellow citizens up to date with what’s happening around the world

Am I secretly a Spy?

Well, no – not really. But if you want to wear a fedora and trenchcoat and cut eye holes in your newspaper then that’s absolutely your business and I’m not going to stop you.

The plan really is to share knowledge between the citizens of both countries. Stuff like who is doing what in their Government or how are they tackling issues relevant to Australia (guidance and support for new players for instance)?

Just remember that there are certain things that aren’t to be discussed – so anything around Defence or plans for our nation, etc. are to be treated as strictly confidential. If you’re ever in doubt ask me or one of my bosses – Mr Sherlock Holmes and David Smythe.

And if you come across any sensitive information from your partner country then treat it as such and pass it on to the Government and don’t discuss it in public forums.

Anyway – I’ve rambled on enough here, so let’s finish with a…

Call to Action!

1. If you are currently acting in an Ambassadorial role to any nation please let me know what you are up to

2. If you want to get involved, drop me a line expressing an interest and let’s take it from there

Any questions give me a shout. Please vote this as my articles usually languish in the lowest reaches of the press section and rarely see the light of day – and we really need this to work to take us forward.

Long live eAustralia!
