Freedom Fighter - worth it or not
Ilene Dover
A few people now have suggested to me that you can make a reasonable income by cycling through the Freedom Fighter medals. That is, this little sucker.
For the uninitiated, it gives 1000 CC reward every time you complete a progressively more complex task. To a point, anyway. Then it resets to easy again. While ploughing my through the 7x 50 kills medal (and realising I'd have to buy more guns soon) I started wondering if I was actually making any money chasing this particular rabbit. So, I ran the numbers.
First, I had to make some estimates about how much energy it was taking to achieve each medal. That seemed easy enough - from months of experience it's about 700-750 energy. So, I'll go with 750. That also suggests that it's 7.5 Q7 weapons per 25 kills, which seems about right without having measured it.
Energy costs money. About $0.05 for 2 energy, in fact. And guns cost money. I've assumed $7 per Q7 weapon in my calcs, though you can certainly get them cheaper if you're savvy.
Enough with the waffle, onto the numbers!

(Sorry about the formatting, it's the best I can manage with the BB codes I'm allowed to use)
So, the net result? A shade over 3000 CC profit for 27 freedom fighter medals. If you stop after the 7x 50 kills medal, you'll end up with a profit of nearly 5000 CC. Is it worth paying 2000 CC to have another go?
Well, that's really your decision.... Whatever you decide, good luck! Please, share your experiences with energy used per 25 kills. That's the key to the whole article! And if you know someone selling cheap weapons, send 'em my way!

If you don't like the BB codes you can always use gDrive or Excel, take a SS and copy it as an image. Good job anyway 😉
Given it's all worked up in Excel, that would be much easier. It's what I've done previously rather than emulate tables, but people bitch about the size of the image...
Text tables also have the advantages of others being able to search and copy.
Tbh, people will bitch at whatever you do, I personally prefer to do it in excel or google drive, it's faster, you can do the calculations there, and you can add colors or whatever.
Even without the profit if you don't loose money by doing it it will break the boredom of this game
It is nice to see someone write about this using some real data! I was planning to study this in more detail myself, but for now I have two remarks.
The decision whether to give it another go lies with each citizen, BUT the answer to "Is it worth it?" is most definitely YES. Simply because it is a clean profit of 3000cc. In other words, would you prefer to be given 3000cc every month (or two or six), or just be given 3000cc once?
Another thing, which requires more analysis to be sure, is that you don't need guns all the time - battles take long enough to get the 25/50 variants with +20 regeneration and no weapons. Also, assuming you travel, you can find battles in TW where no strong enemies participate on the other side. While you fight, you get the boosters and tickets from weekly rewards, so you can effectively combine this with daily tasks, daily orders and the mercenary achievement. I think this aspect of optimizing is key here, as it boosts profit from sources that are not that good separately.
Thanks for the ideas. 🙂
Other benefits not counted include the mercenary achievement (terrible value by itself) and rank points. They add up, after awhile.
Drawbacks include rapid experience gain unless you buy the infantry kit.
Oh, I mentioned the mercenary achievement too, it seems to only make sense as a sideshow which adds up over long time, as you write.
As for experience gain I wouldn't call it a drawback, but my priorities are different from most, where the dream is to stay in Div 1 forever 😃
Either way I hope you don't mind if I publish (in some unspecified future) my own article on this for the Japanese citizens, while referencing your findings. We could build on the subject together 🙂
I don't mind a plagiarism, or a joint effort. Or even both. 🙂
The maths are quite clear cut, but there are tips and tricks. Not picking a losing battle with a x75 effort, for example... Or playing the trifecta (true patriot, combat orders, freedom fighter). Or going for a grand slam with battle hero as well.
I don't want to stay in Div 1 forever either. But, I am realistic about playing with the big kids in Div 3 and 4. I can't win a BH in Div 1 without boosters and bombs enough to put my sorry butt into orbit. Never mind enough EBs that I can't sleep for a week...
Battle hero is where the real money is anyway. Even in Div 1 you can win more than 500 CC equivalent for 25 odd fights, outside of epic battles and tournaments.
Well it won't be copy&paste so not plagiarism really 🙂 At any rate I will get back to you on this!
I disagree about medals, I think BH is not a way to earn, so I don't mind the big kids. The main reason is the huge investment in training grounds and constant contracts versus merely a chance to win it. I think people overestimate how many medals they can get (you can keep sleepless hunting for a week or two, but a year?), they forget how much they had to pay first and also rationalize the emotional/political component as profit. I have not yet seen any convincing actual data (like yours above) that would support it as an income source. I had some major manufacturers confirm my doubts though and I did look into some players BH history which didn't confirm their expected income. I would also point to the gold prices, after the transition to cc for other medals - BH is visibly not enough for people to accumulate gold which means they burn it on weapons and other costs.
So it's like you write about tips, tricks and events - you can wait for opportune moments in training and fighting but in the long run the fluke profits are impossible to maintain.
I believe J Seemore has some previously published data; perhaps he will share the link here?
Good work ID. But Guag is right-- it's about fun more than profit. To me the real skill is, where can I work on FF without pissing off a friend? 😃

Is eRepublik worth it, or not? That's the question.
Don't forget this is a great way to use up bazookas as well which are "free" and cost less energy per kill
Why use Q7s when you can use Bazookas.... saving energy and cost?
Because you run out pretty quickly! Even doing the 3x 25 kill medal needs nearly a month's worth of DOs, which are in turn not free (probably about 70 cc/day worth of energy and guns).
Yes, when you're fighting for effect rather than fun or profit the damn things multiply like mushrooms. Getting them through purchase (10 gold for 55 weapons) or through DOs (70 cc per weapon) isn't exactly cheap!
Once you have 10k+ strength you never use them... Except when needing cheap kills...
I have 600... 😃
it's something to do and it's pleasantly mindless
