For All You NFL Fans Waiting For The Draft

Day 519, 19:38 Published in USA Canada by TroyTrojansCoach

This is an analysis of every NFL team before the draft. It is ordered by MY level of interest. I will review the teams and reveal my 1st round pick predictions. Atlanta Falcons: Matt Ryan was the talk of the season last year as the most outstanding Rookie QB who started every single game. His performance last year is drawing concerns from fans because of the rookie curse: "1st year rush." This is the feeling a rookie gets from a huge year and thinks he's on top of the world and goes downhill from there (one-year wonders). The schedule for the Falcons is extremely difficult this season and Ryan will have his work cut out for him. My 1st round prediction for the 24th pick is Robert Ayers from Tennessee. (DE) Miami Dolphins: The Fins have the toughest upcoming schedule in the NFL and Pennington is still a crybaby, of course. My pick would go to Darius Butler, CB, from Connecticut at the #25 pick. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The current QB position is up for grabs by 4 different players but it looks like Luke McCown is the favorite. The RB spot is also in controversy between Derrick Ward and Earnest Graham. Cadillac Williams will be in the running about midway through the season. The Bucs solved their TE problem by picking up the washed up Kellen Winslow who isn't good anymore. The only upside to the Bucs is their cheerleaders which are the best in my opinion. The #19 pick will go to Josh Freeman from Kansas State for yet another QB option. Dallas Cowboys: With T.O. gone to the Bills, that leaves Rot E. Williams as the #1 WR option (they're screwed!). As a side note: John Madden is finally retiring and hopefully will not be ruining anymore NFL games on Xbox with his voice anymore. Furthermore, the Cowboys don't have a 1st round pick so no WR options for them. Buffalo Bills: The Bills are still as awful as ever. They now have L. Coles from the Jets and T.O. from the Cowboys and D. Rhodes from the Colts to add to the lovely losing streak the Bills love so much. This year will give yet another easy schedule for them to allow them to show the world they suck. The #11 pick will be Brandon Pettigrew, TE, from Oklahoma State and the #28 will be Michael Johnson, DE, from Georgia Tech. Detroit Lions: There is not much to say about this team due to their embarrassing losing streak 0-17. What they need is a leader who can take them to the top like Matthew Stafford,QB, from Georgia with the #1 pick. They will take James Laurinaitis, ILB, from Ohio State with the #20 pick. New York Jets: Favre.....dud. Jets need a QB and Sanchez at #17 is their man. They have good RB and WR corps and a good QB will complete the offensive attack of the Jets. New York Giants: I can't list one New York team without the other. The Giants are in good hands coming off a good season last year. At #29, they will probably pick Brian Robiskie, WR, from Ohio State to help fill their lack in WR's (Toomer and cut of Burress). Kansas City Chiefs: The Chiefs really don't need much after acquiring Cassel. With their #3 pick, they can get the best LB in the draft: Aaron Curry from Wake Forest. Arizona Cardinals: They were so close to beating the Steelers, but they didn't. Now they must pick back up with another year with Warner and company (Warner Bros.). Boldin is stuck with them unless a trade is worked out. The #31 pick will be Knowshon Moreno, RB, from Georgia. Hightower and James just aren't cutting it. Cincinnati Bengals: Palmer-hurt, Housh-hurt, Ocho-dud. There is the Bengals offensive attack for 2009. They better pull something out of their butts to get the ball rolling and FINALLY make the playoffs. #6 pick will be Eugene Monroe, DE, from Florida State. Cleveland Browns: In the same situation as the Bengals but in a little worse shape. They need a new team. They will get started by adding Brian Orakpo, DE, from Texas at #5. Seattle Seahawks: Last year was a bad break for the Hawks due to SEVERAL injuries in the positions of WR, QB, AND RB. They will pick Michael Crabtree, WR, from Texas Tech at #4. Chicago Bears: They somehow managed to get Jay Cutler and that made their QB spot safe. The Bears have no pick in the 1st round so they will need to grab a decent WR in the 2nd or 3rd. Carolina Panthers: The Panthers hosted the best RB tandem last year with DWill and Stewart and are now faced with a WR crisis. With no 1st rounder, they must resort to a 2nd or 3rd round pick for a wideout. St. Louis Rams: The Rams suffered injuries last season that crippled their team. This year they should be ready to be contenders and with Jason Smith, OT, from Baylor at #2 coming in, they should be set. Tennessee Titans: The Titans had an outstanding year last season with a great rookie RB, Chris Johnson, and a good “step-up” QB, Kerry Collins. This year they will need to capitalize on their defense (which was good last year) to prevent high scoring games against them. They will take Sen'Derrick Marks, DT, from Auburn with the #30 pick. New England Patriots: What happened to them last year?? You can’t blame Tom Brady because Matt Cassell filled his shoes quite nicely. I would have to lay the blame on the fans for being so anti-Cassell. Since the Pats are WR and RB heavy, they will go for a good defensive player like Rey Maualuga, ILB, from USC with the #23 pick. Denver Broncos: They are finally relieved of the burden of wiping Cutler’s rear-end! Now they can try to pull their team out of shambles and get back in the game. They will go with Everette Brown, DE, from Florida State with the #12 and Tyson Jackson, DE, from LSU. Philadelphia Eagles: The Eagles had a good year mainly behind Brian Westbrook and partly because of McNabb, but to snag a shot at the Super Bowl, they will need the help of Michael Oher, OT, from Mississippi at #21. San Francisco 49ers: The Niners need a miracle to help them win any type of title whether it’s Super Bowl or just Wild Card. The only thing I can say about them is Frank Gore and their #10 pick going to Aaron Maybin, DE, from Penn State are their last hopes at survival. Indianapolis Colts: This former powerhouse team needs to get their heads in the game and quit getting injured. Manning can’t shoulder all the weight of the team (even though his ego might). The #27 will go to Peria Jerry, DT, from Mississippi. Minnesota Vikings: They didn’t look too good especially in the QB and WR departments. They’ll probably pick up Hakeem Nicks, WR, from North Carolina at #22. Green Bay Packers: The only change between the Packers of ’07 and ’08 was the change between Favre and Rodgers. Rodgers is better. End of discussion. The Packers #9 pick will probably the DT from Boston College, B.J. Raji. San Diego Chargers: Darren Sproles was a surprise in the backfield when LT when down. He did especially well on the last game of the regular season when LT sat out. The era of LT may be over in the next few seasons. To better their WR corps, they will add Percy Harvin, WR, from Florida at the #16 pick. Washington Redskins: Haven’t really been on the map in a few years. Best they have is Clinton Portis and now an overrated Defensive player they payed $100 million for. The #13 pick will go to Brian Cushing, OLB, from USC. Baltimore Ravens: Joe Flacco did a pretty good job his first year even though the running game was shut down due to injuries which made him prime target #1 behind the line. To help Flacco out though, the Ravens need to improve at wide-out. At the #26 pick, they will get Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, from Maryland. Houston Texans: Great offense. Crappy defense. That pretty much sums up the Texans game plan. Clay Matthews, OLB, from USC at #15 should do the trick for the Texans defense. Oakland Raiders: McFadden was supposed to be the greatest rookie RB of all time and take the Raiders to the top………but since he got injured, the Raiders stayed in the bottom 8 in the league. Their team needs serious improvement because their only well known “star” is an unproven rookie. Hopefully that doesn’t happen with Jeremy Maclin, WR, from Missouri at the #7 pick. New Orleans Saints: Brees was the talk of the underwater town in ‘Nawlins as he dominated his position in passing yards. Hopefully they can do better this year against the young and thriving Falcons and Panthers with their #14 pick Vontae Davis, CB, from Illinois. Jacksonville Jaguars: They didn’t quite make par in the standings. More like a bogey. Jail time for their WR doesn’t help either. Maybe the #8 pick Andre Smith, OT, from Alabama can help out. Pittsburgh Steelers: The reigning Super Bowl champions with a powerhouse team. With their last pick in the first round, they will pick up Eben Britton, OT, from Arizona. They should be fine for another run for the title this year. This has been an unofficial review by the editor, TroyTrojansCoach. For all you pro-war Georgians, vote me for congress.
