Fireside Chat #3

Day 2,452, 08:28 Published in Canada United Kingdom by Leo Balzac

Hello and welcome back to the Fireside. This will be the last edition in this series for a while as I am away for extensive periods later this month, September and October. Fear not, I will return, but will only be two-clicking (maybe) for the next couple months. Today we feature a man who is reviled in eCan and loved in many other eNations. His words and actions have had a profound effect on the eCanadian landscape, whether you want to admit it or not. So sit down on your favorite comfy chair, chesterfield, bearskin rug; pour a glass of your beverage of choice (I will be swilling some Camus XO) and welcome to the Fireside: Wild Owl.

It's not even a bloody owl?!

LB: Welcome Wild Owl, I’m glad you could make it.

WO Thanks for having me Leo, I don’t usually fly this far north but I made an exception for a fellow member of the Purple Hippo Mud-Hole Cadre

LB: Thanks for that. Let’s begin: What made you start in the eUSA?

WO I started in eUSA around two years ago as a newbie. Despite the fact that it’s not my RL homeland, it has been a welcoming place which appreciates hard work by individuals who work for it. That, as well as the friends who I've made here, keep me here.

LB: Do you truly hate eCan, or do you view your role as more of a headmaster punishing a cheeky schoolboy?

WO Heh, I don't really have any feelings towards eCanada. Warring them was a strictly professional move, that kept ours (and the Canadian) community engaged and amused for over 3 months. We both spent a lot, and eventually got peace. There are no hard feelings from my side towards anyone in eCan.

LB:Lies. I know you hate that Klop fella. There's a lot of angst with the ATLAS/LETO business, what are your thoughts on the matter?

WO I think ATLAS is a good move. eRepublik is moving towards Regonalism and Regional alliances anyway, and that’s what ATLAS is, from my point of view.

LB: That question would have been more topical if I hadn’t sat on your responses for two weeks. How do you take your coffee?

WO I don't drink coffee. Tea for me.

LB: Philistine. Who was your greatest influence early in your eLife?

WO Probably Artela. She was always there to guide me, and help me out whenever I needed any advice.

LB: Can’t say I’ve had too much interaction with her. Is the eUS political system as dysfunctional as we're all lead to believe?

WO Eh, every nation's political system is unique and has its unique collection of people. Ours isn't great, but we've managed well, given the circumstances and our memberbase.

LB: Eh? You’re assimilating in advance I see. Looking back on the occupation of eCanada, do you think the eUS Gov't achieved its war goals?

WO: As far as engaging our community, providing TP medals to our citizens and keeping the media active is concerned, we were successful. Keeping Canada without Congress for 2 months was also a nice plus.

LB: Ah yes, for the lulz, not because we were eSerbia’s newest servant? How was the peace eventually brokered?

WO It just happened. We'd been in talks with DMV about it for a while, and obviously, war wasn't cheap for either side. Both sides were quite tired of it and it had become monotonous so we just agreed in the end.

LB: I find this response hard to believe, Dennis is anything but cheap. I have heard you're an alchemist, can you turn water into wine? Or lead into gold?

WO Yes to both of those statements.

LB: Excellent. If you were ever banished from the eUS, which ecountry would you choose to go to?

WO Last time I took a break from eUSA, I went to eCyprus. This time..probably eLatvia.

LB: Latvia? That means you’ll get to hang out with our dear Brucie. Describe your ideal sandwich.

WO: Turkey breast with mayo, Italian bread, and lots of salad.

LB: Salad? On a sandwich? Greatest eCanadian?

WO Klop123.

Typical. Well, there you have it folks, I hope you’ve enjoyed this edition as much as I have. See you in a couple months, I’ll put a yule log on the fire to keep it going until then.
