eUS Economy: For better or worse?

Economy. Since the beginning of eUSA, the word has been a thrashing topic. It has been used in political platform propaganda, hilarious crude jokes, as well as in everyday conversation. Unfortunately, economy is a painful double-edged sword because it can exploit many faults within a country. For this reason, some people have made this word taboo. This is for a good reason, too. As you can see unlike lame Hannah Montana montages or prank calls, an economy of a county can clearly define it.

As we are reaching eRepublik Rising, also know as V2, the eUS is inching closer and closer as a unified country into a place of uncertainty. That is why I believe it is time to evaluate the economy of eUS before we head into a place of certain challenges. Is the economy of eUS going to get better or worse?

If we view the goal of eUS one day becoming a global market, there may be some things said. Already, the eUS has 1% import tax across the board. Now this can be beneficial if we advertise more to foreign markets. This brings in more trade which is quite important to a healthy market.

On the other hand, I think we may import too much to begin with. Unfortunately, the 1% import tax may contribute to that due to how low it is. If we want to see some a gain in the Gross Domestic Product, we must be exporting to foreign consumers more than we import. We are just importing more than we need when we have the supplies to become a exporting powerhouse. Most of our economy problems come from our import/export imbalance.

Another factor in the eUS economy is taxes. Yes, another taboo word, I said it. Compared to other countries, most of our taxes do seem a bit high. For example, let us take Poland. Unlike Poland whose income tax is 10% or less through out the board, ours is 23% for everything. In addition, I think most of our tax problems do not come from the Value Added Tax, or VAT, but from other wasted expenditures.

Fortunately, there is light at the end of the seemingly bleak tunnel. In the recent past, the eUS government has aided in exporting and has slowly helped rehabilitate the economy. As of June 7th, 2010, the eUS was ranked 27th for GDP but has made a miraculous recovery to 8th today. So is the eUS ready to venture into eRepublik Rising? You decide.
