For starters; I'm glad you are turning down your tone a bit. Not enough for the taste of the majority but still.

As for the issue you brought forward;
I haven't been on forum nor member of congress for at least a year maybe even a year and a half so have no clue on how it will be there nowadays. In general however the description you gave fits the way I experienced congress and forum with several (not all) older players so I can understand your feeling towards it very well.

That said; Given the way you communicated when arriving here you can't expect people to behave friendly towards you. Should you start discussing in a more normal/civilized way that could change although you already damaged yourself to a large extend...

Regarding the claim that congress is full with "complicated and full of discussion with no real conclusions":

At the moment there are 4 open debates in the public congress section.
1: a 10-page debate which should be closed rather soon. It is about Orion, our approach to them. Recently they voted for the second time on our membership, and it seems all countries voted in favour, so this topic should be closed soon.
2: Trannsvaal's pending resignation for the MoF and MG positions, a two-page debate with only 15 posts in total.
3: A debate about the position of the dictator. 5 pages, and a bit of an open story... I should probably start a vote, but I'm not sure whether that would be the end of it...
4: A long boring topic about in-game votes. 😛 The last post was 2.5 weeks ago, so it's rather inactive. Basically it deals with the disappearance of congress's involvement in a lot of decisions since we have a dictatorship.

Which fits the "no conclusion" part I'd say. Perhaps there are a lot of solved topics after which matters were changed or decisions were taken though.
In my experience most of the time decisions/changes were marginal and hardly a real change compared to what people were used to. So as stated; I can understand his feeling. And he's not alone as I hear sort of the same arguments from other players who did quit visiting forum or joining politics. And as you know I tried to change matters in the past which was, imo, blocked by congress without, again imo, solid arguments. It was not even possible on several issues to discuss the real content. Most of the time it was like "we've always done it like that so why change or why should it not work".

Well, I wouldn't say full of discussion with only 4 topics.
Topic 1 has a conclusion very soon...
Topic 2 lacks conclusion because the government seems incapable of replacing him.
Topic 3 needs a vote with acceptable phrasing for all of congress. But afaik there is no real concensus on the rights of the dictator... Which means it's a very tough nut to crack.
Topic 4 has similar issues.

So that means 2 topics indeed are going down the "no conclusion" path...
I have made a proposal for number 3, but I don't think putting it to a vote would end the debate...

Currently it ain't full indeed (it never was really when I was around either). But my translation toward the issue he brought forward is; Most discussions in congress lack a real conclusion while often being complicated. So not really full with actual discussions but more like an overview of discussions being held in general.

Please, if you have any complaints regarding undemocratic behaviour in congress, tell this to the (d)CoC. If he agrees with you, he can fix it.
If he doesn't agree, start complaining to other CMs. As a congress member you can open a topic.

Finally, if you really seem to be alone in your views, maybe you should look in the mirror... I really am clueless what you're talking about right now.

One thing that I do notice is that NoTie is doing too much, believing he alone can do things, which in turn gets perceived as undemocratic. I do feel congress is left out of certain decisions, misses relevant information, and actually last month basically got nothing to do...
The democratic course of action would be to rise up against our CP, and start demanding that congress is kept in the loop. But since NoTie's intentions seem to be quite noble, I myself have not gone this far yet...

That sounds like him indeed. At least back than. He changed that although he's still no politician so to speak. If you try to look through that rough shell however he does make a point on several issues. It's to easy to just ignore that.

I can only answer this in my personal view as a member of congress. In election if Im totally clueless about the vote I either find out information (on my own) or ask for more information!
If for some reason I must vote against my party opinion I will do so! This is the part when I use my hopefully working brain and try my best to get a solution that is in my mind best for eNL.
I am not in congress for trophy (since we don't get any gold!!!) but for making sure if I get in I know what is going on. That is my way to contribute even slightly in the eCountry I decided to move to.

That's a nice view, but it doesn't apply in congress as I said the majority of people never think by their own they just support their friends and discuss in circles wasting time instead make conclusions and start to change or improve laws to help the country

I remember when things heated up in eNL few years back so can't really relate to the points the writer is making. Since the activity is low there is really good chance that new players can get into congress. Obviously old players need to man the posts over and over again in the government since lack of active players.

old players often think too high of theirselves imo, thinking that nobody else can do what they do/did.

In the end i wonder why we love to throw mud at each other. I did it too, and i loved it while i was throwing, but honestly, i hated it when they were throwing at me. But 2 weeks later i did it again.

Kind of a vicious circle, and only being indifferent can get you out of it.

I can only say that a few months back we were at the break of war and congress was not provided with any information what so ever. I then discussed this with my party members on forum and we contacted congress members from other parties. A debate was opened and our CP was held responsible as we demanded and explaination. In the end we didn't take any meassures as we believed the actuals steps taken by our CP were profound and made sense. We did demand more communication between the goverment and congress. With regards to this communication i believe there should be more transparency. In the oast months with the lack of activity and decisions that had to be made in a very short time-frame I personally see why 'sometimes' it is hard to communicate with congress in order to decide and most times the decision has to be made so quick that informing congress is nothing more than informing. Involving congress in decisions that can be madd in a longer timeframe is something I find one of the improvements that have to be acted upon. On the contrary, half the government is a congress member so they could also be held responsible for not sharing information.

Like many countries, NL is governed by a few old veterans that have given up trying anything new because there is nothing new to try.

We do have old congress members and maybe some or almost all are stuck in debating in circles. But we don't have any better people. Becoming congress member is very easy. Changing the things you don't like is a lot harder.

When I joined this game I wanted to change things for the good. I pointed out some small things which I liked to see different and start working on that. After three months I helped changing something. After 1,5 years of trying to change another thing, I have to conclude it doesn't work and I failed. I have given up on that.

There are a lot of opportunities to change things. Most importantly, you have to see the politics not as an obstacle, but as a field with challenges. I know, it sounds very cliche, but it is true. You have to manouvre your way into the community and politics to get what you want. And you can't change things on your own. You need the help of others. If you have the right attitude of presenting your plans and asking others for help with it, you can create sufficient support to propose it in congress and try to change things.

But you are right. The people who change things are the new and motivated people. Although I'm one of the newest politicians of the Netherlands, I don't consider myself as new and motivated anymore. There is a chance for new people to step in and change stuff for the good.

I hope you are one of them. But the support you have is very limited, which means your plans have to be much better on their own to be considered seriously by others.
