Congress Elections; Columns!

Today, the day before the congress elections, I have 2 columns you!

One of which is written by our own minister of foreign affairs: lancer450
and the other one written by the party president of Geuzen Partij Nederland (GPN) 071leiden!

I don't have much to say anymore, so please enjoy these two columns written by their bare hands.



We'll start off with our own minister of foreign affairs: lancer450.

Hello all!

Firstly, thank you to Willem for asking me to write a column for his paper. I appreciate it. 🙂

To begin, this upcoming congress election is going to be an interesting one. We are currently at war with eNorway and are likely to have a much larger congress this month. As well, it will be the first since I came to the eNetherlands that a few well-known players are no longer citizens of our country. Whether this will have an effect on the election remains to be seen, though I know it really wouldn’t be crazy to assume that GPN is going to be hurt by the departure of some key members of their party.

This month we see the party order has not changed much from last month. Libertas is still in the top spot with GPN following in second place, VN in third, DemNL in fourth, and Iron & Wine in fifth. Sadly, my party the DRP saw its member total rise and fall over the month but it was unable to make its way back into the top five. Whether the DRP will run with another party this election is still not clear. With a relatively good amount of active voters in the party, whoever does get their support will likely have a good result this election. The same can be said for BG. Last month they ran with I&W and I have not heard anything yet about them running with another party but I’m sure they are probably working something out or perhaps they already have done so.

Overall, I feel this election, unfortunately, will have a smaller turnout. Even with the war in conjunction now with the Easter competition and after seeing larger numbers of eDutch active and online, we still have seen a drop in population numbers when comparing this month’s citizen total to last month’s. Lots of players who had come back to the game a couple months ago have since found themselves in the eGraveyard once again. There isn’t much we can do about that and so I believe we will see the total vote count drop. However, I would be very happy to be wrong about this. If we were to at least match last month’s vote total I would be satisfied, honestly.

That was lancer450 telling about his expectations for the upcoming elections, now 071leiden will also tell something about his expectations.

Dear readers of this newspaper,

At the moment we are in a war with our old friend Norway. It’s a war I personally don’t agree with as Norway has always been a good ally to us. But it’s the will of our congress and government so I have to live with it and we will see what the future brings.

Due to the war we have 4 regions and this means we will have a big congress. I hope to see some new faces in congress who can learn from the old players. In the next term congress probably will have to vote about a new commune system, this will be very important for the future of e-NL. I think we need to use our gold to help the citizens in our country, and the new commune system will be a very good step in helping our citizens. But congress will also have to make sure the costs of this project won’t be too high.

I also think it’s time the government updates us on the status of joining Aurora. In the beginning of April we had a referendum on joining this alliance and 80% of the (just) 55 players who took the time to vote, voted yes on joining Aurora. Since then I've seen no updates on this, so congress will have to put some pressure on this.

I hope a lot of players will take the time to vote on a party the 25th. Congress is an important part of this game, and a good way for new players to get involved in politics. Let’s all try to get this country more active!
