Day 1,318 of the New World
So the loggers turned all the straight trees into lumber and toothpicks and paper. And the crooked tree is still there, growing stronger and stranger every day."
— Tom Waits
Nobody Panic
Yes, I felt my blood pressure rise too. My mind raced immediately to thoughts about a "last straw". And philosophically I should be just as pissed off as ever. I mean, how hard is it for Plato to send us a polite message explaining the changes?
But setting aside the insulting method by which Admin continues to make major alterations to the game we invest our energies into, this time they've hit a home run with their latest change.
Very simply, they have given you greater access to your health limits.
Yesterday, I needed to log in every 6 hours if I wanted to use my maximum. I actually did that yesterday for the first time. I fought at 6AM, Noon, 6PM, and just after Midnight.
But truthfully, I would have loved to go to bed at 10PM. My kids were in bed and I was tired. But I had set a goal to try and get four fight rounds in so I blew two hours waiting for my counter to reset at Midnight.
Today, that will not happen to me.
Under the new rules, I have access to 100 of my health counter each hour. I cannot accumulate any more than my old maximum, so once 6 hours are up there is no difference.
But using yesterday as an example, I could have fought with 400 health at 10PM and gone to bed. Sorry eUSA, you would have lost the damage I can cause with the other 200 health, but screw you I was tired.
In other words, if you have been fighting three times/day you will likely be able to squeeze some more damage out each day from now on. If you have been fighting 4 times/day, this new change is totally meaningless, you will still have to log every 6 hours. This new change actually favors the more casual player by giving him access to more of his potential food fights.
One thing about this that will upset advanced players is that the effectiveness of the Town Center and 100Health buildings has been mostly nullified. A brand new player who logs often enough can fight with 2400 health/day. He may need his head examined, but that's not really the point. We paid for those buildings with Gold and Worker Skill - largely without even being asked. Now even what we paid for is being further devalued.
One good thing came out of this for me personally that I'd like to share with you. Thanks to my friend William Thomas Riker, I found out that while the eRepublik Forum is still totally defunct, there is access to the Knowledge database!
Simply click "Contact" at the bottom of your eRep window. If you've never submitted a ticket, you may never have clicked that before. But look what it brings up!
From there you can click on the latest information regarding this change (with a more succinct but less helpful explanation than what I just gave you) as well has access to the Knowledgebase where there is some useful information.
WTR also informed me that the eRep rules have changed with respect to Country President elections. Should eUSA get wiped from the map, we will still be able to hold a CP election.
The last change I want to inform you of probably deserve its own article, but I will mention it here anyway.
It has become extremely easy to participate in Resistance Wars.
In the past, you had to negotiate multiple moves, and pay two moving fees to get into a RW territory. Not any more.
Now, simply click the Resistance War. If you need to move, click the dialogue that asks you to do that. Then move ANYWHERE into enemy territory. If you want to live in the territory of the winner of the RW, then move into the RW'ing territory. But if you plan to fight in another RW against the same enemy, you can choose to move into another of your enemy's territories. Then regardless of the RW outcome you will remain behind enemy lines where you can fight in any other RW's being waged against that enemy nation.
Every eUSA Citizen should be responding to the Campaign of the Day even if it is a RW unless their Military Unit has ordered them elsewhere.

I had a dream where one day our children will play an unchanging Erep and there was cake.
"Then move ANYWHERE into enemy territory - you no longer need to move into the territory wherein the RW is taking place. "
That hasn't been true for months (if it was ever true, I cannot remember) - you only needed to be anywhere within the occupying country to fight in the RW, though you might have needed to be in the territory itself to START the RW. Having never started a RW myself, I am uncertain of the specifics of that.
@Spamgobbler - fixed
The changes are useful. Let's use our noggins and figure out how we can take advantage of this. What people are upset about is how these changes are rolling out. Makes players feel like goldfish in an aquarium. All of a sudden, a hand comes down and puts a new castle in the tank, and all the fishies (me included) swim around with WTF written across their faces.
Fuck them

I do like this better than the last way the health ran but I am so used to being screwed by their stupid changes it's become a habit to get pissed instantly. Erep is like a cheating ex-boyfreind, the history between us has soured all future interactions. Damn you Erep, how could you betray me like that? LoL
A "Change Updates" series will keep you very busy.
But technically with these changes, doesn't every player have a equal amount of health. Everybody gets 2400 a day, of course the newbs would have to log in like every 2-3 hours to used 2400, but still.

Yes, I used to have 600 health to spend every 6 hours, now everyone has the 600. The difference is that I can hold them up to 6 hours, and some can't.
sirmark17 - I was just making that edit when you posted that.
Gnilraps - Well then I beat you to the punch.
I liked my idea where the higher your town center, the faster you regenerate health. Why doesn't admin think of these things...?
Anyway thanks for this article, it saved me a lot fo time trying to figure out what the hell is new again. And I love the Dept of Constant Change ; )
