Baby Boom

Day 2,848, 00:36 Published in India India by Bholenath

With reference to 'this is just the beginning' from Mavo's? article, I think if we are going to have an increase in military activity, we should as well try to pull off a baby boom with it.

Yes, I know we have made countless failed attempts at it but there has emerged a huge difference between real life India in 2009 and in 2015. Back in those days Indians did not use the internet as much, we had the slow 2G, time was burnt playing FB games and IMing strangers and back then, the best advertising options eIndians had was spamming gaming and defence forums, sharing facebook posts and once we even made a propaganda website.

But times have changed. Indians have moved way beyond facebook and are always looking for some new source of fun, so much so that even substandard websites like SchoopWhoop with pathetic posts have gained a lot of traction. In the nutshell, in my opinion, if introduced to it, Indian netizens are more ready than ever to embrace a game such as erep. Brazilians did it a few years ago, so can we. Erep having a mobile site helps.

More importantly, a shift has also occurred in the financial status and disposition of Indians. Not only have people grown richer, more of them are now willing to spend their money on games and online pleasures. Just five years ago, all this would have seemed outright absurd to most of us.

This game would be a novel thing for Indians and the time is therefore ripe for us to push for a baby boom. We can use methods such as chain WhatsApp messages/pics/vids, pay a site like SchoopWhoop or some other popular blog to feature this game, talk to eRep admins and get them to tie-up with payment sites such as Paytm or MobiKwik (and maybe get the admins to financially help our cause too), rejuvenate IRC, battles preferably with ePakistan and eChina, play dictatorship to our advantage, reinstate supply and mentor programmes, some awesome graphic designers and video editors. Notwithstanding the advertisement channel we use, we should be careful not to be too misleading or dubious as internet laws are being increasingly enforced in India.

Of course, all this would require a lot of community participation and we have too many players in the 2-click mode but that's a challenge ever faced by every country striving for a BB. What we lack in number, we shall make up in strength of our will.

I have written this article specifically for a public discussion on this proposal (and imho we should have more such open discussions.) Please share your opinions and suggestions.
