Are Party Politics Putting eIreland In Danger?

Day 2,748, 14:25 Published in Ireland Ireland by AoifeNiBhriain

Dear eIrish citizens,

I had never planned on writing an article on this but the subject has recently began to annoy me to such an extent that I feel I must.

First of all, I wish to inform you of my history before I continue. My initial political affiliation was with the Free Malaysian Party in Malaysia but, to be honest, I did nothing while in that party. From there I briefly moved to Eire Aonair and then to a more permanent residence of Omega Eireann where I made some wonderful friends. I was fortunate enough to represent Omega Eireann in congress on a number of occasions and learned a lot from the more experienced players. I then decided to move to the Independent Labour Party where I have also gotten into congress and where I have met incredible people. However, throughout ALL of my time in eIreland there has been considerable conflict between the political parties.

90% of the time, this conflict does not directly have an impact on eIreland but it does create a stringent and hostile environment for the eIrish citizens as it feels as though we must hate one another. However, I am sure we could live with it 😛

As you are all aware we have recently fought off two attempted M.T.O.s. Clearly, eIreland is in a very vulnerable position at this point in time. What I regret to inform you is that I feel that we are not uniting in the face of this danger. Instead I feel we are worrying about little details that can be rectified after rather than the big picture - which is eIreland's safety. If we are taken over who knows how long it will be before we get our country back? We need to put our differences aside when it comes to matters such as these. You may bicker and argue as much as you want when it's over but for now I implore every member of congress, every member of an Irish political party and every eIrish citizen to do whatever it is we must do to protect our country. To be quite frank, we must grow up. Of course there should be political debates and I'm not saying there shouldn't be, I'm just saying that there is a time and a place for those debates to take place. I understand that everyone is trying to do the best for our eNation but I think we all need to take a step back and remember who it is we're fighting against and who stands beside us in the field of battle.

I decided a long time ago that I was going to try and unite eIreland to the way it used to be years ago. That is why I am trying to be friends with everyone. In spite of this, I want to make it clear that I will always give my honest opinion and try to do what is right for eIreland, I will always hold eIreland above anything else and I will fight with my friends if the necessity arises.

All I now hope for is unity among all of us eIrish because, whether you like it or not, it's hard to get better allies.

Finally, I leave you with a saying from our much wiser elders:

Aithnítear cara i gcruatan.

It is in hardship that a friend is recognised.

Yours respectfully,
Aoife NiBhriain
