A few days ago, I wrote:

"Today, there is a proposal to change the VAT on food. It took me by surprise. None of the Presidential candidates hinted at it, no public discussion has occurred and congress has, presumably, been discussing it in secret. I can’t imagine why."

The president subsequently advised that the tax change aimed at obtaining data: Laffer curve stuff.

The tax rate has been changed back now. Again, no public discussion or announcement or debate. Presumably the matter was discussed in secret congressional session. Why this isn't discussed in the open is beyond me.

I assume it was decided not to measure elasticity during the MU competition. Alternatively, enough data was collected. Would a player in the know advise and, additionally, comment on the absence of transparency.
