ADP - The President speaks!!!

Day 2,418, 06:53 Published in Australia Australia by Send love to Plato

Well I know personally how busy our CP is these days and has been for quite a while yet always puts eAustralia first, in fact you would be staggered if you knew the dedication and hours she has put into Australia and not just over the past few months. By day she works in a wooden shed doing admin work for a dodgy company that you usually see in one of those TV investigation shows where the host goes undercover to bust open the seedy business in question, she gets home logs on the laptop and sends supplies out single handed to roughly 25-30 ADF dedicated fighters, logs it in the ADF g-docs, sends me an abusive PM that would make a Dock worker blush...then sweeps through JDS applications and those g-docs and follows it up finally with replying to PM’s from young Aussies needing advice, LETO PM’s, senate PM’s, Cabinet PM’s, replying to very polite PM’s from myself begging her to stop her abuse before replying to me in a manner that would make you think that if it were a letter at a crime scene you would believe you are dealing with a sadistic serial killer. Then she takes a long shower, lathering herself while beads of water running down her….

So, while I am sure she will be releasing a final article as CP i thought I would grab her and add to her work load and demanding she answer some questions...not about missing Government money...thats hush hush because she is splitting that with me...but just questions in general -

1, So, that was a fun and very productive month...i would imagine the highlight was being the first Australian President to launch an airstrike? What was that like? Was there much tension and nerves incase it failed?

Fun? It wasn't all fun! Bang on with productive though. Launching the airstrike was nerve-wracking, I didn't know if we would face a lot of resistance and I was expecting the worse. The airstrike with Greece and Saudi was a last minute thing as the deal we had in place fell through, so it was very much a rush job. We ended up having a sort of 1 hour countdown in the ADF chatbox, a few people actually stayed up late to drop damage there before heading to bed. That was a definite highlight. Quite a lot of excitement!

2, We've seen Greece and Asteria/LETO be very complimentary about lill' ol' Australia this month...i am guessing that took a lot of hours of diplomacy behind the scenes?

To put it bluntly: yes. Having to organise and co ordinate with others...it all takes time. Australia seemed to gain a reputation for being demanding and moaning when we didn't get our way - that got dropped. I needed to show people that we aren't demanding and that we are more than willing to help out allies - something which it seems a lot of eAustralians didn't like doing. We started out by helping Greece by getting up RW's against FYROM to redirect a bit of damage. From there, the many hours spent trying to organise the airstrike, and the the hours spent watching the RW's in Jizan...the first time a RW started in Jizan, I ended up setting my alarm every two hours during the night to check the battle. Went to work the next morning totally on my arse. That wasn't fun.

3, JDS, how does it feel to see it copied in other nations, and any plans for change next month?

Aaaah, JDS being copied is pretty awesome, but at the same time I'm really protective of it so I get a bit like ‘’no, bugger off, we did this first!’’. It's great to know though that other, much bigger nations, see a benefit in this. As for plans, I don't know, I'd like to expand it some how but I don't actually know how...y'know? Maybe a brainstorming sesh would help.

4, ADF, what has been your proudest moment as Marshall/Commander?

Thinking about it, I don't actually have any single one 'proudest moment'. The feeling of pride tends to come about when I see other members talking to each other, interacting and helping each other. Of course, it's always nice to see us get new medals.

5, Would you ever run for the office of President of Australia again?

Oh man 😛 This whole experience of being CP has been bittersweet. It just has. I thought it would be good, fun, enjoyable, slightly tough but certainly something that would leave me wanting more. And honestly? It just hasn't. It's really bizarre. And I think that stems from the fact that no matter what I do within eAus, even if somehow I'd wiped FYROM and kicked Chile and Indo to the kerb and gained us a few non-rented foreign regions, people still wouldn't deem me good enough. Probably because I'm English. Because that's still a stumbling block for some reason. I mean, it's clear at this point that I have always had Aus' best interests at heart and have done a damn lot of work within the community, but some people really can't get past the ‘'ERRMERRRGAWWWDDDDD SHE'S ENGLISH, BURN HER, QUICK, GET THE PETROL AND BURN HER’’. And it saddens me. There are players in eAus, who aren't from Aus in RL who refuse to fight against their RL country... I could give two steamy piles of poo about the UK, in the game or RL. I'm an eAussie. So, y'know, koalas and kangaroo's and g'day and all that. Even those who don't like me for whatever reason I figured would surely see what I'm trying to do here... Nope. I'm not sure if their hatred of me jades the reality within this game, or whether they just don't understand game mechanics I don't know. One thing I do know, though, is that publicly being against me for that airstrike, and then putting your name down for congress which was only an option because of that airstrike, is just funny AF. Oops, off topic... Would I run for CP again? Maybe, probably not any time soon though.

6, As one of the founding members what are you hopes for the Australian Democratic Party?

To reign supreme for the rest of our e-lives? I dunno. Bigger, better, stronger, more active, leading the way, educating people... Unless I become PP, in which case I'll ruin it and go join one of the other parties and you lot can do one!

7, So c’mon, there must have been weird PM’s, slip ups etc etc what is the oddest thing that happened to you in your term as President?

I don't think anything 'odd' happened. My dog rolled in fox poo and it made me vomit, that was odd and only happened last week, does that count? Ooh, I also really hurt my foot and don't know how, all I know is it's swollen but not broken, that's also odd and is happening right now!
A few ‘’foreigners’’ may have tried to contact me, that was weird. Lots of FR's too. Oh, and one of those stereotypical internet perverts but he got told to do one after I spent a few minutes giggling at him. Nothing major bar the aforementioned RL crap.

8, As the person who you followed into the CP office I can testify that as Australia went quiet it took a lot more work, but have you any advice to anyone thinking of running for CP?

DON'T DO IT. IT'LL DRIVE YOU INSANE. On a serious note, you have to have a strong head and be able to take flak, you just have to be active. You have to. 30 minutes a day won't cut it. Pick your cabinet wisely, they will have to be active too. You'll have to go to meetings, so prepare for long sits on IRC, you may also have to go elsewhere to talk to people (I had to communicate with Greece on Teamspeak very regularly). You can't be demanding, you have to listen to people and you have to be able to negotiate or reason with them. Oh, and always be prepared to help out an ally. Always. They’ll remember you for it; I certainly remember them.

9, Finally how difficult was it choosing your cabinet?

Not too difficult actually. I knew I wanted a small cabinet because of the amount of stuff going on, I wanted as few people as possible to know. Hugh, you're just great at everything, active, I know I can count on you and you've been a fantastic MoD, and I hope Gaha learned something from you and doesn't want to run away now... Sherlock is a fantastic MoFA and put a ton of work in the past few months, Guag, well, he's been great with his DoEE articles and with dealing with immigration, as has Molly, and more recently Infowars. Venja is the moneyman, everyone knows that...I think I had a pretty solid bunch of people behind me who have all been active and brilliant with their roles. And guys... Thank you!

So there you have it, today’s Australia is quite different to the Australia of just four months ago. How? Well already you are seeing the rebirth of the political scene which the ADP are proud to have been at the root of the revival, this was all due to the work and effort put in via finally getting Australia a senate. We preached long and hard how we needed this to bring a pulse back to the nation and make the heartbeat grow stronger and stronger and we took those chances. We planned to perfection the timing of our senate and now people are returning, numerous political parties are writing and planning again. Young players are getting involved, laws are being discussed, people are getting involved, Australia is giving and earning respect in the world and that is such a huge difference to four months ago when the media was dead, the community was dead and we sadly were the only active party in the Australian public eye. Government was struggling for activity and we had no prospect of being on the map.

Australia is growing and at the Australian Democratic Party we are proud to say we were at the forefront of the revival and we will continue to be there as this country prospers. When people were leaving this game for its now stagnant and dying rival i said publicly on many occasions - ‘These colours don’t run’ and along with the ADP we stood up, we stayed and fought against the odds for these days. Well we are proud to see parties return to activity, we are proud to see people want to represent their communities in senate...and we are proud of all of you that continued to give us your support.

Finally, in the next 24 hours will be an ADP Grand Prix comp update and Wednesday will be the next free food drop for all you sexy members.
